Scared to death about my NCLEX

Published

Ok so I am a new member here. I joined because reading back on old blogs the support that you offer each other is amazing. I feel like I really need that support right now. I took my NCLEX-PN yesterday and it cut off at 85 questions. I have heard that is a good sign but I know that the number truly doesn't matter. I had a lot of drugs that I have never even heard of before and a lot I mean a lot of choose all that apply questions (which I hate with a passion). So basically I feel like I guessed at everything. I have never failed a test in my life and on the pretest that we took through a testing agency I scored in the high 90th precentile. So the wait is on I can get my results sometime within the next 2 days. Which personally seems like a lifetime. I cannot imagine failing a test for the first time on a test that means so much. I am sick that I studied so hard and nothing I mean nothing I studied or my teachers drilled in our heads was even on the exam. As soon as the test cut off I got an overwhelming feeling to vomit and it hasn't left me yet. Can anyone offer my positive advice?:o

Just got home from taking my exam and sat down to express the exact same thoughts. I read your post and decided you had said it all!! What school did you go to?

I think that all of us have felt unsure or ambivalent about whether we've passed NCLEX. In other words, you are not alone. You are having very normal feelings!

I'll be sure to keep my fingers tightly crossed with hopes that you have passed NCLEX! Good luck, and welcome to nursing! :)

I had the same experience last year; being disillusioned and confused after taking the exam, not seeing anything emphasized by either the instructors, review books or review course and many 'pick all' questions. I had 10 meds, and knew about 6 of them, another I quessed wildly (and correctly, which shocked me). In fact, I made a mental promise to myself not to ever sit for another NCLEX exam. I did pass, though, with 85 questions as well. You may actually shock yourself and have done even better than you think. I still don't remember how I got home on a very rainy afternoon.

These are all normal feelings, traditional, I am assuming, since we all were there. I can still lay on the psychiatrist's couch a year later and shake over NCLEX. I do hope to hear great news from you in a few days!

I took my exam Saturday, July 7th, and obtained my results on Monday, July 9th, around 6:00 p.m. That was the longest two days of my life! I, too, was not sure whether I passed or not; however, I PASSED!!! There were way too many drug questions and way too many "select all that apply" answers. The computer clicked off at 85 questions and that was a good sign! Cheer up, relax (yeah, right!) and good luck. Keep us posted.
