Scrubs and Beyond as the above person mentioned is excellent. I live 45 min away and make a special trip there everytime I need scrubs. Always have the latest styles and wide variety.

I hate to hear that nursing as an LPN in hospital setting is the way that it is for you all and actually feel fortunate to be where I am after hearing some of these blogs. I work on a 40 bed med surg unit and we do not do team nursing. Each nurse both RN and LPN has their own pt load that they are responsible for all the way across the board from assessments, meds, new orders, cath care, dressings, IV therapy, IV sticks, etc. I do all my own charting from A-Z. They do have CNA's that help out with ADL's. A unit secretary that does new orders and advises us when they come in. A charge nurse for back up and a unit manager who has our back. LPN's cannot do central line care and therefore wouldn't be assigned one. There are a hand full of meds that LPN's cannot give all of which are certain IV push. If one of our patients has it any of the RN's on the floor can give it and just sign off on it. RN's and LPN's are equals at our hospital and the enviornment is very plesant. As an LPN I am responsible for myself there is no RN over me as far as patient care except the charge nurse and unit manager and they are over the RN's as well. On any given day there are the same amount of each RN and LPN working on the floor together. Hopefully if any trend is going to become popular this one would be it.

I am very sorry for your loss. I personally have never lost a parent and cannot pretend to know what you are feeling. I did however lose my sister and it was beyond words. I just graduated from LPN school a few months ago and during my program I lost my grandfather who I was very close to. I say that because he was my inspiration everyday to get through everything. When days were tough I thought of him and it helped to get through it. Nursing school is tough and mentally exhausting at times but well worth the end result. I know that he was proud of me. And I know he is in heaven smiling down. Your mom sounds like she was wonderful and you are lucky to have had such a supportive mom. She will be with you on your journey to become an LVN. Let your mom live on in your memories. You will grow stronger from this experience and become a wonderful nurse and help other people. Life is hard and we are faced with things that sometimes don't seem fair. Death of a loved one is a hard thing for anyone to go through. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Your mom will forever live on in the memories you keep of her. Good luck to you in your schooling. Don't give up on your dreams. May your mother be inspiration to you as my grandfather was to me. This in my opinion is a wonderful hospital. I did a year of clinicals here and I start working there as soon as my license number is issued (any day now). I am driving 45 min to work there because I liked it so much. It is ranked very high in the nation for hospitals in excellence. I have never talked to anyone in my research that did not enjoy working there and in a year of clinicals I learned alot of how things work all in all in my opinion wonderful hospital.

It just depends on what shift you want to work and where you apply. nursing homes for days is anywhere from $17-18 more for nights.. Agency is usually around $26. And there are some hospitals that do hire LPN's just have to call around. They usually pay $16 and then for nights and weekends could be on up to $20 plus. Hope this helps

Actually, there are more clinical hours involved in an LPN program. The Lpn graduates with 700-900 clinical hours where the RN graduates with 400-500 clinical hours. Atleast that is true in my state. The online RN classes are based on the knowledge that you have already completed enough clinical hours and you are building on your base knowledge and most verify that you are working in that field so they assume you are learning more clinical skills. Also, most LPN to RN online bridges do require a clinical comptency check off. Hope that helps...

I am in the same boat as you wondering the same exact thing. I took mine yesterday and it cut off at 85. My best friend took it today and hers cut off at 85 also... I'll pray for the all of us......

Ok so I am a new member here. I joined because reading back on old blogs the support that you offer each other is amazing. I feel like I really need that support right now. I took my NCLEX-PN yesterday and it cut off at 85 questions. I have heard that is a good sign but I know that the number truly doesn't matter. I had a lot of drugs that I have never even heard of before and a lot I mean a lot of choose all that apply questions (which I hate with a passion). So basically I feel like I guessed at everything. I have never failed a test in my life and on the pretest that we took through a testing agency I scored in the high 90th precentile. So the wait is on I can get my results sometime within the next 2 days. Which personally seems like a lifetime. I cannot imagine failing a test for the first time on a test that means so much. I am sick that I studied so hard and nothing I mean nothing I studied or my teachers drilled in our heads was even on the exam. As soon as the test cut off I got an overwhelming feeling to vomit and it hasn't left me yet. Can anyone offer my positive advice?
