  1. Sure we can stay in touch. Just send me a PM at any time :) I am not sure yet, but I think that I may go into critical care b/c I enjoy fast paced environments.
  2. I would suggest taking and completing as many pre-reqs as possible and work hard to get all A's prior to applying. I complete all pre-reqs before appyling. Also, if you finish your pre-reqs prior to nursing school, you don't have to take them while you are in nursing school so you can have more time to study for nursing courses. The higher your scores and the more classes you take will increase the probabilty for you to get in. As for the TEAS, I thought it was easy but you might want to brush up on the skills needed by purchasing the study guide located here:http://www.atitesting.com/onlinestore/productpage.aspx?code=61&isproduct=1 Don't rush it if you can. Try to get as prepared as possible and it will pay off in the end.
  3. Thanks for all of your help everyone. Regarding your question shameka, I have a previous bachelors degree going in, and I transferred all of my credits with a 4.0 GPA in my pre-req sciences. I believe I got a 92 cumm. on the TEAS. You don't take the NET for NGCSU. However, I heard some of my classmates talking amongst themselves about getting a C in A & P and B's, so I know that you don't need my scores to get in. I also got into GPC but turned it down. I would suggest avoiding that program completely. NGCSU is a highly regarded school and a good program. I like it so far. Good luck!
  4. I am going to attend the NGCSU nursing program starting this August. I received a letter from Northeast Georgia Health Systems offering me a yearly scholarship from $2,500 to $4,500, but if I accept I will have a service obligation to them for one year for each year I accept the grant. Does anyone know about this hospital and if it is a good place to work? I don't want to obligate myself to a low-quality hospital. Thanks!
  5. FYI: I found out today that they are sending out our nursing packets at the beginning of next week.
  6. HIPAA deals with medical privacy & patient civil rights. http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa/
  7. I contacted NGCSU and they said that they cannot disclose any information on when they are going to send out our nursing packets. Let me know if you get yours anytime soon. :)
  8. I shadowed a nurse and a PT at Fort Mcpherson. You can pretty much call any hospital and I am sure they would allow you to shadow a nurse. You will probably have to get HIPAA training prior to shadowing - I had to.
  9. livextoxlove77, Any ideas when we are supposed to receive our nursing packets?
  10. I got into GPC two times, one time for Fall 2006, which I had to ask for deferment, and the other for January, which I turned down. GPC has not sent out their acceptance letters for Fall 2007 yet. It was for the Clarkston campus. That is the only campus they have for their nursing program at this time. From what I understand GPC will eventually go away because of the new Gwinnett College, but I may be wrong. I am going to the Gainesville campus at NGCSU.
  11. Ha ha, good point. Are you going to the Gainesville location?
  12. Congrats!! You got your letter within the time that they said they would mail them out. I wonder why I got my letter on March 13th???
  13. Considering NGCSU's great reputation and the fact that it has been ranked one of the top colleges in U.S. News several times, you may want to consider sticking with NGCSU. :)
  14. Thanks! I got into GPC as well, but I turned it down. Everyone I talk to says to avoid GPC like the bubonic plague. Even my friend who is about to graduate (and has all B's so far in his classes with no previous fails) told me not to go. I had another friend who entered GPC, and in the first semester she failed out of the program. She had a 74.7 and you need a 75 to pass. That's harsh!
  15. I received my acceptance letter to the NGCSU nursing program for Fall 2007 on March the 13th. I was surprised to get it so early considering that NGCSU said that they would not be mailing out our letters until the first week of April. Did anyone else get their acceptance letter yet? I am curious to see who I will be spending the next two years with. :)
