I'm currently waiting to see if I got in to the LPN program at Savannah Tech. I completed all my pre-reqs in 2 quarters and the result was a 3.48 GPA...honestly do you think I have a shot at being accepted?
It's all about GPA. I found out in August for September start so it could be anytime for you now. I am about to graduate in 5 weeks from the LPN program. I can only draw on the experience of our class but it was purely about grades, we were about 3.7 and up.
A couple of words of advice..... if you're going into this program, and you work, beware. Your last two terms are full time mayhem and very few people are able to work and those that do are barely able to work weekends. I'm giving you a heads up so that you are not caught by surprise.
If you do get in, approach the whole thing like basic training. It won't all make sense, sometimes they are putting you through it just to push you, don't look for logic - just give yourself to the program and ride the tide.
It is very difficult and very gratifying. I am just about at the end of my race and although I'm just barely dragging my butt across the finish line..... I will cross it.
It's a good feeling and I hope you get to experience it.
Thanks.. I should be fine if it comes down to grades, I had a 4.0. What I am worried about is that it is Mid-August and I have yet to hear anything. How long does the program last? If you started in September of last year then I can only assume it lasts an entire year. How do they break down the terms? By quarters?
I appreciate your reply and congratulate you beforehand for all that you have done so far and for sticking with it.

Yup it's broken down into quarters although I believe they are preparing to change that format very soon. They want to make it more in line with other institutions. As for when you hear, I remember that I heard only about 3 weeks ahead. I think I heard around the 20th of August so keep holding your breath.
If you've got a 4.0, I wouldn't worry too much.
If you are accepted, they'll want you to have a TB test and have your Hep shots up to date so you might want to line that up ahead of time.
Best of luck to you.

Hi there! I am just wondering if the ATI for the last quarter is hard. I know that there are 4 tests that you need to take, but is it really hard? especially the comprehensive one. thanks!:specs:
hey,
sorry to wake this old post..but i wondered if you guys were still on here (allnurses.com)...those of you that went to Savannah tech for the lpn. I started a thread about it, I wasn't as far as this OP, as I'm just starting my pre-reqs, actually less than that, I won't start them until the quarter starts.
Are you guys still around?
I would like to open up this post again. We have almost completed our first quarter of NF/practicum. Please read any advice from the previous posts as I would only be able to repeat it. Go ahead and shoot. We are switching to semesters therefore(God willing) when we graduate, it will not be until Dec '11. Slightly dissapointing as we found out about it in Oct/Nov '10, it has been such an amazing journey thus far that I cannot express how fortunate it is to be a part of it thus far.
Good Luck
seaniapolis...can I ask what was your GPA when you applied to the program? Right now I have a 3.8 and taking the last four pre-req's. I am trying to average out with a worse case scenario, ( like making a B on the stupid computer class). Or what was the lowest GPA that you know of in your admittance class?
