Hi! Goodluck to you Nikka! Once you submit your documents to POEA, they will forward it to Saudi Recruitment Office (SRO), then you have to wait for a call or notice within 2 to 4weeks for interview, exam, and completion of requirements. Then from the time you get sched at SRO, you'll be able to leave our country within 2months.

I agree that Saudi is the best training ground for new nurses because you would not just be an RN but also be the nurse aid (bathing, cleaning them after defecated), LPN and medical technician too (blood extraction) because medical technicians in saudi usually stays in their laboratory unlike here in the Philippines, they will come to the ward and extract blood for laboratory works. You'll be able to learn how to do ABG, mastery on suctioning, tube feedings, blood extractions even if your patients 4 extrimities is casted. hahahaha, Just have patience on them and take good care of yourself especially with your back when changing their bed linens and if you be assigned on male ward because some patient/watcher would try to take chance on you. Their hospital equipments are mostly new/upgraded/high technology, electrical beds, pulse oximeter, infusion pumps, suctions & oxygen is on their overhead wall just like in US, most unit/ward has their own standby Emergency cart. Just a reminder, never ever ever throw the empty ampule of narcotic on the container because you won't be able to go home and investigation will be done. It must be returned by the charge nurse to the pharmacy.

If you be assigned on the ward, you'll learn how to speak arabic fast. The first word you'll learn are "Yala Yala" (come, come), Sura (hurry up!). Kam?(how much), Akil (eat), Pulos (money) , Esh?(what?), Ana mafi malloom kalam Arabic (I do not know how to speak Arabic). hahahaha. Then just after few weeks staying in the ward, you'll already know how to communicate & defend yourself if needed.

Be observant!!! Avoid talking with males, always keep distance when talking to male patient or male watcher. And make it sure that your upper uniform should be close to knee level (not butt level) . You'll be working with Indian nurses, and different races like Pakistanis, Sri Lankan, doctors from Egypt, Romanian, Afghanist, Syrian, India, Etiopia, etc.. Just do your job very well and you'll be fine. If senior or other nurses would ask you to check on their patients or to do something, just make it sure that you have done your own assignments too.

Keep your money in your bank account, never lend it unless you know the person you dealing with because you have worked hard for it, be triffty so you'll see the fruit of your hardship at the end of your contract. Avoid buying too much fancy materials & in installment basis(imitated watches, camera, fancy jewelries) because you'll end up paying something every payday. Am I too strict and disciplinarian??? hahaha.

You'll be able to learn how to bake this and bake that, always baking and cooking. hahaha! Then have time for yourself, beautification than staring at the ceiling when bored though not even 1 lizard would pass by and not in the mood to watch tv on the dining room.

Sorry for the long message but I hope this would be a help. Again, take care, God Bless & Goodluck to you!

This was entertaining and useful too thanks ?

Wow! Thanks pisceanbabe74 for the very informative post above. It would surely help me as a new grad nurse in anticipating what's in for me in KSA.

Am I correct to assume that you are still in Saudi? What hospital are you affiliated with? May I just know how much more or less do nurses get for a pay, both for non-experienced and experienced nurses. Thanks.

Hello!

Just wanna ask if anyone especially from the new board passers have checked out Saudi MOH application process in poea. Are non expi nurses really accepted too?

Thanks in advance!

I think you should have at least 2 years experience in the Philippines before you get a job abroad. It's a law in the Philippines isn't it?

:nono: I haven't heard or read of any law that requires us new grads to have 2 years experience before working abroad. I think it's a proposal that haven't earned yet the approval of the lawmakers.

As a matter of fact, POEA accepts new grad applicants for job postings in Saudi. It all boils down as to whether the employer will find your application suitable to their requirements.

Happy holidays!

Hi Meliza, sorry for the late response. Anyway, I only worked for just a year in KSA because I focused on cgfns, ielts and nclex review & exam after that 1yr contract. Most nurses stays for yearsss in KSA because of the benefits they get but most of them can't have their family with them. And I have 2 kids and I wish to go to a place wherein I could have them with me.

Salary starts at 2,400 SR to 2,700 SR for inexperienced nurse and 2,800 & above for experienced nurses in 2004 through POEA/SRO (Saudi Recruitment Office) and also depends on the employer after you get interviewed. I just don't know how much was it right now. Although on some cases, there are some nurses in KSA earns for only 2,000SR/month or even worse, these are nurses who applied through bad agencies here in our country.

Hi everyone! Enjoyed reading all post here, it really helps me a lot to decide, especially the one posted by Piscean. Your post put a smile on my face, can't stop my self to laugh while reading your post, memories from the past flashed back in my mind..my happy and sad moments of working in K.S.A.

I worked in KSA as a nurse but not in a hospital instead in a polyclinic though it was not what I wanted, I just focused myself working though most of the time there is not much work to do since all patient are just for check-up. The only disadvantage of working in a polyclinic ay mabobobo ka..but salary wise much better compared here working in a 8 hour toxic shift handling 10 patients (maximum number). eeww!

At the moment, I'm thinking of going back again to KSA but this time in a hospital (MOH). Salary is much higher plus good training. Nurses there are well compensated.

So for those who are thinking of going to KSA, just prepare yourself and pray because that will be our only weapon to survive alone in other country.

Good luck to everyone and Happy Holidays!

Hi! Me and my friends are thinking of gping to study to work there as nurses. We want to be close together (this is the number 1 condition of our parents before they allow us to work in KSA). What are the chances that we will be placed in the same hospital/institution?

Thanks!

Most of the agencies requires for experience, but in POEA they accept new grads.

You mean POEA in Manila? I passed both my cgfns and nclex but am really desperate to leave and work abroad ASAP so I decided to work in the middle east for a start... I really do not have any experience as a nurse because it's my second course. Please if anybody here in this forum knows a hospital or an agency that would accept nurses who do not have any experience then please help me....

oneproudigorot....

You can go to POEA in your area and ask for the requirements. They accept nurses like us who do not have work experience. A classmate of mine has no hospital experience, too, but now she's leaving for Saudi Arabia. The process was really quick, only about 4 months.

We're trying our luck in Saudi also.

God bless!

Hi aljin

I'm also planning to apply thru poea. Would you happen to know what's the salary range that was offered to your friend? Thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm also interested applying in KSA. It's been 2 years from now since I've got my license and still jobless. After my review for my nclex exam, I started giving my resume last august 2007, at first my intention was to apply as a volunteer nurse. I was surprised when i heard from the HRD personnel that I still have to pay them even though I'm applying for a volunteer position, until now I'm still waiting for my entrance exam to the other hospital I'm applying for..... Sad to think that as a novice I think I'm the last priority, I am too desperate now to start my nursing career . I thought after passing local board exam it's easy for me to have my nursing job, anyway can anyone give some tips about the requirements needed in KSA? God Bless everyone.
