NJ22 I hope he gets the job

Stars glad you got the oxygen sorted outF

Hi  Tweety

Busier than expected day at work, but not as bad as earlier in the week

Found myself rather tired yesterday. Realized I'm probably on the edge of burnout, trying to do so many things right, especially at work.  Am going to reflect on how I can do things differently

J was too tired to go out last night, and to be honest I was too. We'll try again Sunday.  Went for a walk instead,  which made me feel better

Dad is too busy unpacking to do lunch, but I'm going to stop over for an hour or two and help him with some of the unpacking

Have to take the car in for maintenance, have an early appointment so I can pick up the rental and go bird watching like I normally do

Svengoolie has some 70s made for TV movie, going to skip that.  Afterwards I think he has some sort of retrospective

Will be nice again, in the upper 60s

Good morning all!

nursej22, fingers crossed your son gets that job.  I know you know what a difference that can make, financially and self-concept-wise.  Yes, it will be a transition for your dh, to be retired (for you too!!).  Sounds like he will weather it.

Joe, enjoy your bird-watching today!  That's nice of you, to stop and help your dad unpack (I'm sure he appreciates it).

No Stars, hopefully your dh won't drive when impaired.

Our program was well-received. It was basically an hour of hymn sing-along, and the ppl who attended liked to sing. ?  Songbooks were handed out, and the page number of each song was announced.  We had a pianist, dh on banjo, probably five guitars, two mandolins, a bass, and a ukelele.  They were all familiar songs, so it was not a struggle with new material.

Today I will go visit my friend S and take her some of the Hungarian mushrooms paprikash I made.  Dh is planning on our attending the online jam, at 4pm.

Have a good day!

I actually DID transport the condenser down 9 steps to the den. The difference in me doing it, rather than him attempting it, is I know I'm not drunk or on some drug mixed with the drinking, and I am quite aware of my limitations. The condenser had wheels on it and I moved it down one step at a time. Hubby is just not conscious of the fact that IF HE WOULD BE MORE AWARE OF HIS CONDITION, he MIGHT not have as many accidents. For instance, y'know how I told you that I watch him walk upstairs from the den to the kitchen? Well today he was wearing some stupid back-less slippers and he lost them off his foot about every third step. I calmly mentioned that those slippers were going to make him fall. He came back down with his Nike shoes that have laces!

To be continued....

Dianah, your sing along sounds like it was quite enjoyable. That is a lot of instruments! Yes, my fingers are crossed for our son, as well. As I look at retirement, and nearing the end of life, I worry about youngest ds. I see so many in our community at loose ends and I worry about him when his dad and I aren't around anymore.

Joe, I hope you saw some cool birds. With the changing season, I suspect they may be on the move? I am starting to see Vs of geese in the air.

NoStars, I am glad you were safe while moving the concentrator. I admit, I read your posts with trepidation about what will be the next fall or injury.

Hi Tweety, hi Annie.

I had a nice run this morning, about 3 1/2 miles. Lots of other people out running too. There is a big event coming up so I suspect many are getting in some last minute training. I also saw a couple of groups doing photo shoots with professional photographers at the park where I run. And of course, lots of good looking doggos. I did a little gardening, and I started watching a series on Chernobyl on HBO Max. It is historical fiction, but quite well done. Very eerie when you know how it turns out and how many mistakes were made in the beginning of the disaster. weather continues mild. Maybe some rain next week.

G'day.

Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable day.  Without falls.

I floated to the med-surg side of our unit and had 6:1.  What else is new?  I worked with one of the laziest nurses I've ever seen.  At about 8:00 she sat down with her phone and probably spent 10 hours of her shift sitting down on her phone and running her mouth.   Really it stunned me to watch but I minded my own business.

Maybe it's the hurricane but so many of our patients are unhinged emotionally right now.  It amazes me these people are out there in the world.  How do they function?

One of these days I'm going to have a good day.  LOL

Tweety, It's only 8:45 PM, but I'm going to chance it and say, "No, no falls today." // Hope your "one-of-these-days" work events come about quickly; it REALLY is about time for you to have some GOOD days at work. I hate reading "6-1" when it is about your assignments. Now, if it was the Braves against whatever team that were 6:1 that'd be different. // My 'assignment' is helping Nannie clean her butt and change her pants, and also listening to hubby's liturgy every morning about his lack-of-sleep, pain in (R) shoulder, pain in his (R) upper ribs, and the coughing; teaching and re-teaching use of the 02 condenser. I have marked where it is to be turned on or off, but always have to check it, AND make sure he has put the nasal cannula into his nostrils correctly. He honestly is NOT a stupid person, but under the sway of his addictions he acts SOOOOO dopey!

Joe, I agree, I don't care for those 1970's made-for-TV movies either.// I am, like you, also on the edge of burn-out! But reflecting on how I might do things differently? I am not ready to reach any conclusions.

j22, I ditto what dianah said about your son getting the job, and your husband and you in retirement.// I think about Forrest Gump sometimes when I think about people running. I know you aren't anything like Forrest, but it's the "Run, Forrest, RUN!" that goes through my mind. I envy you your determination to run and bicycle. I am very great at sitting and reading, myself.

dianah, Although Joe did not send me the Thai food I put in a request for, perhaps you will send me some of those Hungarian Mushrooms (w/ paprika?) Or not. ? I think the Senior Center is open again. They used to have a regular sing-along every week that I was thinking of attending before Covid, but I somehow can't bring myself to going maskless yet.

It's 9 PM and the score of the game is Mets 2, Atlanta 1. The shortstop for the Braves is Dansby Swanson, and hubby refers to him as "Pretty Boy". He is quite good-looking. If I was a teenager I would get a poster of him wearing the double-breasted white suit he wore to the White House the other day, and tape it up on my wall. But I am 73, and it's a little unseemly to be drooling over a young guy like him!   ? Oh my goodness gracious! What a thing to admit! (PS He just added to the Braves score, so it is now Braves 3, and Mets 2. And it was only the end of the 5th inning, so we have a possibility of winning...I hope!

Dansby Swanson sounds like a name that would make women swoon. Forgive my typos please -- Turbo cat is "helping".

They kept interrupting today's disastrous Oklahoma football game so we could watch to see if Aaron Judge got homerun 62. He didn't.

J22, hope your son gets the job. And Tweety I'll hope for a good shift at work.

Today we had a contractor come to talk about converting the bathtub/shower in the main bathroom to a step-in shower to make it easier for Hubs to assist Gma. Getting her cleaned up and bathed has been one of the things really hard on his back. The fact that *he* found and talked to contractors shows me that he can and will find motivation when it's important to him. So what does that say about the fact that I had to be the one to round up legal help where stepson is concerned? And why won't he make an effort to arrange occasional respite care for Gma so we can have a break?

We ended up signing with the contractor. He had the slick sales pitch which always makes me distrustful but I feel pretty confident they'll do a good job.

Tonight we watched Hocus Pocus 2. Gma was in a real mood and kept griping about me and the boys.

The choir sings tomorrow and it is world communion Sunday.

Ado, It would be good to have a walk-in tub/shower; ALL of us could use an easier time climbing in and out of the tub. Our bathrooms both have those glass shower doors and no grab bars. Nannie hasn't been in a tub since...?.... maybe she had showers a long while ago when she was at that nursing home. And hubby, it makes me nervous to think of him climbing into the shower if he is under the influence. // At least Nannie is not in that griping stage; I feel for you! She has gone to bed, and if she was in the den right now, she'd decide to go to bed, because, after the Braves won the game 4-2, I was searching for something to watch. I have never seen this movie, SPACEBALLS, so I tuned in for a few minutes before I go up to bed. I don't recommend it. Sometimes Mel Brooks is funny, and sometimes he's a little too not-so-funny (old comedy). And so, I wish you all a good night!

No Stars, that Dansby Swanson is a looker!!  I wouldn't blame you if you had a poster made and hung it up at home.  Just plant a bowl beneath it, for the drool. ?

Ado, hope tomorrow is better.

I'm getting rid of my tub in my bedroom and converting it to a walk in shower with bars. I'm still waiting on the customer parts I ordered to be ready.  They say it takes up to eight weeks.   I can add a seat later but was so over budget that I decided not to put one in now.  I have to set myself up for my own senior years here since I decided I was going to retire here.  But also on the off hand chance I need it for one of my parents it will be more senior ready than a tub.  I know my mom is having a hard time with her bad knee getting in and out of her tub/shower.

I'm still waiting on refrigerator parts so I can get my leaky fridge fixed.  I checked at UPS says "label created will notify you with shipping date".  It's said that over a week which is better than the nothing that was said a week ago.

I think we're living in a time when customer service is slow and expensive.
