It's 60 degrees or so, and has been raining. Today's forecast says 65 and cloudy, with more rain predicted for tomorrow with a high of 62. The house was cold this morning when I first got up, so I touched up the heat 2 degrees, which is much beddah! Speaking of bed, that's where I am, wrapped in my bathrobe and propped up, having coffee. After Momo ate her breakfast and did her business, she came back up from the den and dove in under the covers. I could probably sleep for another hour, at least, but I ain't a'gonna do it!
Last night I kept waking up every hour. Don't know why, it just happened. After the 5 o'clock hour I had a cup of coffee, and immediately went back to sleep, sleeping for another 6 hours, until the coffee reached my bladder and said GET UP!
I got a long email from my sister with lots of info about getting in touch with the IRS; but, all except for ONE of the links/phone numbers, I have already tried. That'll be attempted on Monday, because it is Saturday.
BiL, SiL, Niece and Grand-Niece were going to go to Dollywood this weekend, and were supposed to have left yesterday afternoon. Wonder if they made the trip? I don't wonder enough to chance a call to see if they did, as I'd just as soon have the weekend "off" from everyone. Don't want the "Do-you-need-any-help?"-gang to get any ideas! I really am rather asocial.
Wonder if the arthritis in my right hand will back off? It has gone from the middle finger to the index finger, and now also includes the ring finger! Compression gloves help a little bit, and my daily "Arthur" meds do okay, but being right handed and wanting/needing to accomplish some chores doesn't help! Can't lounge on the sofa eating those proverbial BON-bons, even if I wanted to. (Is that image too '1950's'?)
Shortly I will do my duty and get the Nannie-person up, dressed, and fed. Perhaps it is the perfect day for her to take a long nap? One can always hope!
But now, "one" has to finish her coffee and get dressed herself before beginning the day.
Hi. Went to sleep with very windy weather and woke up to a loud crash at 230 am. One of the neighbor's spruce trees broke off and fell into our driveway, damaging some of the roof gutter and landing on the power lines, pulling them away, but not off the house and the pole. I called the power company and someone was just here to look and put in the request for someone else to actually come out and do something. The guy talked to dh so I only caught the end, and dh had me all confused explaining what has to happen. Someone will take down the line, and leave it until we can get an electrician to make repairs on the house. Or maybe they will do a temporary fix on the house. And maybe we should turn off the main breaker. Or not. And we should call the cable company, except there is still a live electrical line holding up a tree next to the cable. If we have to turn off the power we will need to stay in a hotel that takes dogs. Anyway, I called the insurance company to start a claim, just in case there is a dispute about who the tree belongs to.
We went out for Mexican food last night and it was just meh. The veggie burrito seems to consist of tasteless beans and rice. They used to use zucchini, and corn. Even the salsa was tasteless.
Dibble-dabbled around today. YES Nannie did sink into a deep sleep, so I was able to go upstairs and putter around. I had a gazillion magazines piled up, so I flipped through them just to pull out all the crossword and word-find puzzles. I put 'em in a folder to keep in the den, so I'll have easy 'grabs' for the boring times. Am doing a second small load of laundry, the first load was Nannie's stuff and it is dried and folded. I brushed Momo a lot, as she has her seasons confused and is shedding instead of building up a Winter coat.
Think I mighty well go up to the kitchen and start sauteeing some onions and boneless chicken that I bought already cut into smallish pieces. From there, I am not sure; might add some olives, diced tomatoes, some Italian seasonings, and maybe put it all on top of either spaghetti noodles or rice. I'm going to just make it up as I go along. It'll prolly be edible, or as Nannie used to say when she cooked and put supper on the table: "I hope it's fit to eat."
Twin B wanted to have beef stroganoff and he looked up a crockpot recipe, bought suplies, and we got that going around noon. It would probably smell good if I could smell anything. I felt pretty good yesterday but today -- YUCKO. My nose won't stop running and sneezing.
I know better than to have Hubs sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan. They are notorious for not paying. Deny, deny. Plus if a person needed a SNF for awhile after hospital discharge there wouldn't be one around here that accepts the MA plans. But we need the supplement (Medigap). He is currently using my ultra-slow laptop to start the process of signing up. My sister does have Medicare Advantage. Maybe since she lives near the big city of San Antonio there are more options but I worry it could become a problem.
Tomorrow evening my book club is doing Friendsgiving. Yes, Tweety, I agree this is a Gen X or millennial thing. But that's the age of most of my book club people. I am the old lady from the tail end of the baby boom. I said I'd bring a vegetable of some kind and a pie. I was thinking of roasting some Brussels sprouts but might choose something safer like mashed sweet potatoes. Hoping I feel better tomorrow. For now I sit with a cat in my lap, sipping hot tea.
Unseasonably warm is in the rear view mirror. Only a sliver of sun over the ridge.
It hasn't snowed again so I chipped dog poop while the youngest dog ran around eating whatever dead grass he could find. His tummy is upset because he ate kleenex. Again. He pooped a bunch out this morning. Kleenex doesn't digest as well as one might guess. That means his turds were connected by kleenex "twine". Once frozen, they all stayed together after unstuck from the snow pack. Cleanup was easier.
Maybe I'll add some to their diet.
That last bit was a joke.
This entire post is a reflection of how exciting my life is when my grandson is not here. Still, I am blessed. And thinking of/ praying for those who are unwell, worried, grieving, conflicted...
Had no rice, so I used spag-noodles. Sauteed the onion, mushrooms, chicken, diced tomato; added some salt and freshly ground pepper corns, tumeric , garlic powder, oregano, a dab of rubbed sage, some black olives, and that's all I can remember. Nannie said it was good. Since I have little sense of taste, I'll take her word for it. I do know, as hubby's son-in-law says, "It filled the hole." I'm stuffed!
j22, yikes! Having a tree come down like that is scary! We had one at the edge of the yard that started leaning toward the house, more and more; then it had large, long limbs and branches hovering above the roof of the house. Thankfully we didn't have an ice storm, but I finally couldn't stand it another minute so I made a fuss, and hubby went across the street to talk to the people doing tree trimming over there, and the tree was down in 2 days. YAY! No falling on the house! There is another tree a little way down the row, which is also starting to lean like the first one did, but I think there's a few years left until it's going to get to the point of needing to be axed.
J22, that is scary. I hope everything is safe and power restored.
TMB, dogs are good at doing things that aren't that good for them. I don't think I would do well with not seeing the sun. The novelty might make it interesting for awhile.
Watching OU football again, hoping it won't be too disappointing again.
Huskies won again, that makes them 10-0.
We had a yellow lab who would eat anything when she was young. The only thing that made her feel unwell is when she bit into an albuterol inhaler. She ate a frisbee once, and pooped orange bits of plastic for a week.
I don't know how well it will show up, but here is a picture of the tree of doom.
Joe, glad you had a good evening out and that the cookies were a hit.
Stars, that dinner sounds good.
J22, ugh...hate those unexpected problems.
Ado, hope you feel better. I'm a late boomer too. I hate that. Boomers are Cher and Bill Clinton, not my age bracket. LOL
TMB hope the sounds like the pup is okay after eating Kleenex. ugh.
Work was okay. I was in charge with two patient assignment and was able to keep up. No shift change admissions for a change. But we got a steady stream of six admissions.
I indulged in a pizza that a family member got us. I should do better.
I gave no narcotics today so I'm safe from getting written up. I hope.

Tweety that seems an unduly harsh policy
NJ22 hope the dogs are good today
Stars that is kind of ridiculous that the IRS doesn't keep information longer than that
Hi Crunch
Work was not too bad, day ended quietly, although it was busier than expected, given how little I had scheduled
After work had the potluck, the cookies were quite popular. Talked with some people I hadn't seen before, along with some that I have. Smaller crowd than usual.
Today will go out hiking as usual, then have lunch with dad. My sister was going to join us but my BIL has the flu
Svengoolie has Munster Go Home, which is fairly funny if just kinda OK, I think I'll watch it
Going to get up into the low 50s today, although it's below freezing currently
