Stars sounds like a productive day

Dianah I have something similar, a pumpkin spice cake, that I usually make around this time

Tweety glad the drive home was uneventful

NJ22 that's cool, didn't have robotics when I was going to school

Work wasn't bad yesterday, despite being off.  Nothing really unexpected, though a bit busier in the afternoon than I expected.  Rest of the day was ordinary, stopped by the library and post office and exercised

Talked with dad, he's getting a test for C diff today.  We won't be getting together this weekend, and he'll likely skip Thanksgiving next week unless his symptoms improve.  If the test is positive hope he gets some Flagyl right quick

Today will stop by the Arboretum this morning.  Have a dinner with the over 50 group tonight that I'm hosting, decided to have it at the Corner Bakery this time, have about 4 other people expected

Going to be in the low 40s again, rain should hold off today

Good morning!

Joe, hope your father doesn't have c-diff.  They do a rapid pcr and hopefully will know soon.  Oral vanco is another treatment along with flagy.  Must be unpleasant.  Sorry about the Thanksgiving plans.

I gained a whopping five pounds eating out and not exercising but for a couple of walks.  My sister also gave me two very rich and thick Belgian candy bars that I ate.  Oh well, it was fun eating rich and unhealthy food.  LOL

Canceled our restaurant reservations as some friends gave us an invitation to dinner.  Still won't be cooking.  LOL. They used to be my nextdoor neighbors but sold the house and moved to a condo after one caught cancer and died.  He's since remarried and I haven't met his new husband.

Doing laundry, cooking and cleaning today.  Working an odd schedule because of Thanksgiving.  Sunday (my usual) then Wednesday and Friday.  One day at a time.  Hopefully will keep a reasonable sleep schedule.

So, my ever on-duty Listening-Ear-Dog told me around 2 AM that there was something going on downstairs. I went down and turned the light on in the den (there's a switch at the top of the stairs), and there was Nannie, peeking out around the doorjamb from the bathroom. Both that door and her bedroom door was closed, but she was on her way to sit in her recliner. Nope! Put her back to bed, 'gently' telling her it was the middle of the night and WAY too early to get up. Told her she needs to stay in bed and she said "Okay".

Woke up late morning with my knee, hips, and shoulders singing (dam ol' cold weather! It got down close to freezing last night) so I tiptoed downstairs praying Nannie was not up yet. Thankfully, she wasn't. So I fed Momo, opened the drapes, unlocked the back door, took my AM meds, made coffee, got back in bed, and am hoping the meds start doing their jobs PRONTO!. My knees, hips, and ankles are aching something wicked, so when I walk, I am hobbling a bit. UGH!

Today's high will be 59 degrees, no rain predicted for several days. Since I finished all the laundry yesterday, I think today I may sort the contents of a tall wastebasket ....have to separate the mailings to be shredded and toss the rest in the recycling. That's a good 'sitting down' job, but I want to wait until the meds talk to the  '-itis' in my finger joints as well as shoulder, hips, knees, and ankles. Also I am not so sure about ripping, tearing, snipping paper in the den, as it may keep Nannie from dosing off again, as she often does after breakfast. So, we'll see.

Haven't heard from the in-Laws, so I don't know what is going on with them. They could stay away today and it wouldn't bother me. I'd like it even better if SiL came and toted Nannie off to her house, but I generally hear about that the night before. Maybe SiL has her grand-dgt today, I dunno.

I could go right back to sleep if I let myself.....

Tune in later to see if I did or not!

Oh yeah, the usual bad luck with Nannie-care respite again......SiL said she will come by tomorrow and give Nannie a shower, etc, and then take her to get her nails done, and then bring her back home. I didn't know the nail salons were open on Sunday. Anyway, she tells me that tomorrow is the only time she can give Nannie this week. HUH! And Thursday is T-bird Day; she says they are serving lunch at 11:30 AM because of something to do with her dgt and grand-dgt, and IF I feel like coming over for lunch with Nannie, we will be welcome, but if I don't feel like going, we don't have to and they won't be insulted. Nannie won't know it is Thanksgiving anyway, and who knows how *I* will feel on Thursday. Right now it feels like I'm getting, as in the old-timey  expression, "the bum's rush." It will be more of the same if, no, I mean WHEN SiL has to have surgery on her back. Don't even think I have to say "it figures" or that I will have to "get used to it". I may not like it, but I AM used to things falling through, so what the h_-_-_. Chatty CG will naturally be off Thursday, but she said she could come on Friday if 'we' wanted her to. I told her to talk to SiL; I don't want to tell CG to come on, because maybe they aren't planning out paying the $75 to her this week.

I may only be saying "H.R.PuffenStuff!" or "Chocolate Hot Fudge Sundae!" but I am thinking MUCH worse cuss-words than those. This is like a true test of SOMETHING, but I don't know what! I just hope I last until this portion of my life is played out for good. I still am 'owed' a REAL retirement, and I would LOVE to be able to have plenty of ME time, without the hassles I am currently having to endure.

Here's my big OH WELL!  But put the "EPH-ing-word" between those two words!

Glad you're home safe, Tweety.

Joe, that sounds like a good day on balance. Too bad the bookstore is closing.

Was it dianah making chicken tomatillo soup? Sounds GOOD. The lady who taught my Spanish classes at my old job gave us her recipe for "chicken pie" with recipes for both green sauce and red sauce. I really like tomatillo sauce.

I learned that the ortho specialist has a walk-in clinic so I called to make sure they don't bill it like an ER (nope, it's billed as an office visit). So I decided to go to the "hobble-in" clinic. Saw a PA who did more xrays and still no MRI. He said I have the knees of a somewhat younger woman... they don't look 60 but don't look 40, either. LOL. So only mild arthritis, which I knew. The presumption is a meniscus tear. He gave me a cortisone injection in the knee and it is already a lot better. But I have a terrible headache and some insomnia and think it might be a side-effect.

I bought groceries for Thanksgiving dinner today. Then realized I was low on cornmeal and flour. I must have cornbread dressing with my turkey. Twin A wanted to try a dessert with mangoes so I found a recipe for a mango flan. Talk about rich desserts!

Thursday night was the friendsgiving with the book club and was very enjoyable. Tomorrow we're singing in our church service, have hanging of the green after church, and we sing at a community Thanksgiving service in the evening. We have orchestral accompaniment for the evening. We would also have been singing at the nursing home in the afternoon but it is canceled because they have an outbreak of Covid. I can't be happy that the old folks have Covid but I am a bit relieved not to have quite such a full Sunday schedule.

A bit of a dreary day here. The gusty winds have subsided for now, and rain has come in. I did some yard clean up. Grandson slept in until 11. ds brought the other grandson over with their dog. dh is in a snit, but the poor dog was seemly lost with the boys. She used to be quite hyper when she was a puppy, but she's quite mellow now, so she's no bother to me. In the am I will take boys and dog to meet dd for breakfast and the boys have appointment for hair cuts.

Chicken tomatillo soup sounds good, but Im sure dh would never eat it. Mango flan sounds good too.

Yes, it was me with the Chicken Tomatillo Soup.  I made another batch yesterday, only this time I remembered to get limes at the grocery store.  So this batch had 2Tbsp lime juice, as per the recipe.  We had some last night, and decided this recipe is a keeper, although with my modifications:

* chop two Anaheim chiles in place of the 4 oz canned chopped mild chiles, and saute them with the chopped onion, in 2Tbsp olive oil

* add 1/2 tsp coriander to the spices

* substitute 1 tsp marjoram for the "mexican oregano"

My dh would probably LOVE mango flan!  I don't always like many of the tropical fruits, would have to taste it first before passing a verdict.

Ado, you have quite a few busy days coming up, enjoy!

An early Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
