Dianah I have found quite a bit to do there, even after a casual perusal

NJ22 hope the rain didn't delay your plans

Stars that was nice of you to give that lady a ride

Tweety that does sound like a crazy shift, glad that you are off this weekend

Work was mostly fine, though towards the end of the day got a new case and some documents and emails and voicemails.  Had to leave one email and 2 voicemails for Monday but got everything else done

Rest of the day was fairly quiet.  Went to the library to pick up some books.   Made a Tom Collins instead of my usual white Russian, was a nice change of pace.  Emailed my cousin to discuss  plans for Milwaukee

This morning heading out early to do an event with the environmental group.  I'm leading this  time so I chose a place no too far from me.  Think we'll get a small crowd this time

Afterward I'll have lunch with Dad.  He's been to Milwaukee recently so I'll get some input from him.

Svengoolie has The Haunted Strangler, which I remember was pretty good

Will be considerably cooler today, cloudy in the low 80s, it appears the rain has stopped

Good morning. I realized this morning that I made a big mistake in planning our trip. I thought we weren't heading back to Boston until Monday, but we'll have to go back early in the morning. Oh well. The 100 mile ride is today. Ds texted us that they are half way, so far no rain.

Tweety, agreed, it doesn't seem professional to just walk away from a job like that. Perhaps she was just burnt out and all will benefit, eventually.
I hope all is calm in the Stars home, and Annie's car is staying put!

Good Morning that is actually early afternoon~

Last night hubby was c/o his shoes, and I said that we could wake up earlier and go shoe shopping. So, I set my alarm clock and went to sleep. I sort of woke up as I heard the floor in the hallway creak; looked up and saw hubby's back as he went into his room. I didn't think anything of it and continued to sleep. When I woke up it was 12:30 PM, and my alarm clock was not on the bedside table --- it was face-down on the file cabinet by the door! I said jokingly, "I've been sabotaged!" Hubby said that I had been running around  for two weeks doing "too much" and he figured that it was more important for me to rest than go shoe-shopping today. I didn't mind the extra sleep and I don't mind NOT going shoe shopping today. He said he had gone out to the "shopping center" and got his sleeves of vodka, and said it was too hot and muggy to have to go out again, even at that early hour. So, no new shoes, but he has his 'inventory' restocked to take him through Sunday and in to Monday morning. (I hope). And since it is Saturday, I am not going to even THINK about detox or rehab until Monday. I know he could just be brought to the place I have in mind, but it is 2 + 1/2 hours away and I don't want to bring him up there and drop him off without knowing any details. So my brain is off duty and to he!! with it, for now.

Got Nannie up and said to leave her feet on the bed while I put her boots on. She said "Oh, Lord, I don't want to put my boots on" (they are short ankle boots, with a zipper on the inside of the ankle of the boot.) I asked her why not, and she said her legs were feeling "kind of funny". Couldn't find any warm, reddened areas, or 'frankly painful' spots on her legs; I felt if it was a blood-clot it might be obvious, but wondered if it somehow might be a DVT? I don't know, but I am not willing to call an ambulance to take her to the ER. If it just turns out she was doing her routine 'pitiful me' shtick, I would have many wasted hours sitting in the waiting room while the worse-off patients were seen first. I'll keep an eye on her.

Hubby has gone up to his bed to rest, as he said he didn't sleep well last night. Oh, the one unusual thing from last night....he was doing his usual emphysema and COPD coughing and Nannie again asked if he was alright, and did he have a cold? He got rather short with her, saying she asked him that every time he had a coughing spell, and said, "The fact of the matter is I'm dying, Momma, it's not a cold, it is emphysema and COPD like Daddy had. So you don't have to ask me if I'm feeling better, because I'm not, and I never will!"  (whoa!) She just said "Oh, okay," and that was that.

Weather continues to be miserably hot and humid with a 50% chance of rain and a thunderstorm. The sun keeps coming out and going in as the clouds travel by. There was a 1/2 hr game delay d/t the possibility of rain in Atlanta, so they waited to start, just-in-case it would storm and they'd have to pull the tarp out again. Once they knew the rain had passed them by, they started the game. Braves won 10-7. I think there is another game tonight, as well, weather permitting.

Got another notebook to use as my brain, the old one had a cracked spine and only a few pages left that weren't scribbled on. This brain is the same style notebook, but is a lovely teal blue. I transferred any of my continuing reminders to the new brain-book, and it is funny that some of those reminders carried forth have been entered in the 'old brain' since January. And very few had been crossed out as 'done', but the same-old-same-old stuff remains. OH WELL!

Though there are still tons of stuff that need doing around the house, I am being a pro at procrastinating. It's not like it won't be there the next day or the next; maybe one of these days I will become inspired and energetic, but I'm not pushing it on myself today. It's possible I may end up doing a few things, but even if I don't, like I said, it will still all be there waiting for me. Ppfftt!

j22- Hope your travels go well.

Ado, one word about your car....YIKES! I know, I know; I read what happened; I hope it doesn't take off on its own again! Sounds, in a way, a bit like a Stephen King story.

Tweet-sweet, Have a good weekend off!

dianah, Hope the heat in your area goes down, it is disgusting to think about 105 degrees. We are supposed to enter the low three-digit temps during the week, and are praying our area is not going to lose power from AC overloads.

Joe, hope you have a good weekend!

Welp, hubby is up from his rest and is headed down here, so I'll sign off for the time being.... Any time I am typing he says, "Who are you talking to?"

PS: I read on-line that it is "National Lipstick Day". I won't be celebrating. Lipstick on me looks ridiculous, IMHO. Any of you have any plans for this "National" holiday? ?

Good morning!

Sorry your trip was cut short like that.  Hope you enjoy the rest of the trip.

No this RN used to be a tech and when she was late all the time and called in sick a lot.  The manager wouldn't hire her as an RN so she went to work for a nursing home for a couple of years.  When our manager retired, she applied and got an RN position and never mentioned she used to work here.  She continued the same behavior of calling in sick and being late.  She worked three months, most of which was orientation since she had no hospital experience, and then took time off to have gastric bypass surgery, continued the same behavior and now quit again.  I told the manager I wish I would have know she was applying and I would have given her a heads up.  She's very shady and good riddance.

Anyway, I had a good hot yoga class this morning.  Having lunch and will take a nap.  I'm feeling relatively good after working overtime 3 of which were not good days.

Temp predicted to be 102 today, humidity 31%.    And we are INdoors!

Attended Zoom Sabbath School.  Didn't sleep well last night, so I see a nap in my near future (after lunch; for some reason I'm hungry now).

Have a good day!

Hubby requested Stouffer's lasagna for supper. Easy-peasy! Stick it in the oven at 5 PM, and eat supper just after 6 PM. Now THAT's the kind of 'cooking' I like.

This is the third afternoon in a row, at about 4-ish, that Nannie has asked if she could "go to bed now". I wish she could, but she would just get up again in a few hours and think it's morning. Uh-Uh! Not doing that!

Stouffer's lasagna is one of my favorite easy meals. Hubs is complaining that there's no easy food around here so I will make another trip to the store. And make sure the car is in park. I did end up telling Hubs the story. He wonders if there's something wrong/missing -- that could be easily fixed -- that allows us to take the key out if the car isn't in Park. Stephen King novel-- LOL. The first night alone in my apartment when I moved 800 miles away to work in Kokomo I was reading Christine and got a bit spooked.

Joe, I've been to Milwaukee once, many years ago on a business trip with Delco. Our flight from Chicago to Mke was on a smallish turbo-prop and I was kind of airsick when we got there. I do remember visiting an arboretum.

Tweety, what an awful shift and unprofessional behavior by that nurse. I try not to burn any bridges, myself.

I got out of the habit of wearing full makeup. Mascara irritates my eyes. But I will occasionally make the effort and do wear lipstick to brighten up a little. Most days my lazy and sensitive self can be found with just a little tinted moisturizer. I think I have pretty good skin for a 60-year-old but maybe I just don't pay attention. LOL. My mother would not and did not approve of not making more of an effort. Today woukd have been her 91st birthday so she has been on my mind. And my parents would have been married 73 years today.

I've had a grumbly tummy today and havent accomplished a lot. I need to pick up my nephew at the airport about 9:30. He will be driving my parents' Buick to my sister, along with her replacement check.

Took a nap, which felt really good.  Then called a former boss, from the place I retired from, 22 years ago!  We had a nice chat (we keep in touch off and on, we have mutual friends).  He is attending a retirement party tonight (not for him, he retired some years ago).  I opted not to go, I just don't care for parties.

Ado, that is scary-weird about the key and your car!  Hope you can get it looked into, and fixed.

Hope y'all have had a good day!
