Good morning!
Joe, I admire your efforts at socializing. There are a couple of bars here that gay men my age frequent but they do seem to be places where friends get together. I also wonder if a man of my age alone might be presumed to be on the hunt for a younger man hookup/sugar daddy situation and since I don't drink I stay away. LOL
Dianah what an ordeal but glad you guys persevered in that heat.
Stars, my best friend clips out articles from the newspaper and magazines he reads and saves them for me. I always get some reading material from him. Also it being 2023, he will email or text stuff he thinks might interest me. As I've indicated before that like you he is a ferocious reader.
I'm pretty sure I've read that book Stars. I was a huge Ludlum fan when he came out in the 80's and read all of his early books. I read on his wiki page that estimates are 300 to 500 million of his books in print. You might know the movie adaptations of the Jason Bourne movies staring Matt Damon were huge hits grossing over a billion dollars worldwide.
I'm being nostalgic lately have gone through a three CD collection "50 #1's" by Madonna and another three CD collection of all of Neil Diamond's singles. Currently listening to the "Diamonds" three CD version of all of Elton John singles.
Heading to yoga and will mostly chillax the rest of the day.
Have a great day.
Howdy~
Had a difficult time staying asleep last night...don't know why, because I wasn't fretting about anything, that I know of. Didn't wake up until 12:30 PM and it took me 1/2 an hour to convince myself that I did need to get up. Finally got dressed and went down to get Nannie up and dressed. She had Blackberry flavored yogurt this time and said it was delicious. Now she is wrapped in her poncho-thing ( her 'blanky', like a kid has) and her eyes are closed, but she's not asleep YET.
While I was getting her up, Mr 'Ninja' Hubby sneaked in from the Ford to his bedroom. I heard the O2 condenser turn on (BEEP!) and a few steps when the floor creaked, and he got into bed, once again leaving many days-worth of dishes in the sink. (that he told me NOT to do on Tuesday because he would wash them.) Methinks he is avoiding me and Nannie; maybe he has had more to drink than usual at this time of day. I dunno. Who cares. Ppfftt!
There is so much to do and I am exhibiting that sign of depression, in that I don't want to do ANYTHING. I'm talking about the dishes, cleaning out the refrigerator of all its spills, cleaning off counters,(forget washing the floor in the kitchen!) and vacuuming the den. The dust can stay where it is. Probably wouldn't hurt to do a little more laundry too. I also don't want to pick up in my room, (books, magazines, paper, catalogs, bills, paid receipts, etc I am being, as Sabby used to say, a real SLOTH!) Right now I am having coffee.
Once again I did not win the Mega-Millions and prolly the same on tonight's Powerball drawing. I only got one ticket for each. Once I actually bought 10 tickets, but of course won nothing. I keep seeing stories on-line where folks all over the place, here in N.C., have been winning LARGE amounts of dough. Why can't I be one of them? RATZ! OH WELL!
I'm going to scroll through the Yahoo "news" and see what's going on in other parts of the world. No baseball game today on our usual game-watching channels, and tomorrow's game is at 1 PM. Haven't done any of the 'homework' Dr.L. (PhD!) gave me last week, but my next appt isn't until August 8th so I still have time to psych myself up to do some of it. Oh, and I told hubby last night that he is going to call the guy about Nannie's annuity and see if we can manage to get Nannie into that nursing home for at least a few months. We REALLY need time away from her and all her needs.
Welp, hubby just came down to the kitchen, so I will stop here for now.....
There IS a baseball game tonight on a different channel. Glad I found out. ?
And after hubby came down to the den and fell asleep in his recliner, I gave up and did all----ALL---- the dishes. Not only were we out of silverware, we were out of clean glasses and cups. He has said nothing about it. Ppfftt!

I am not surprised he did nothing, and said nothing about your doing the dishes. Nope. You are the only one with a clear head in that house, to see what needs to be done and to do it. As we have agreed, they are lucky to have you. And do continue paying yourself for services rendered. :)
dianah, I admire your persistence with the watering. I decided we needed to water our little garden last week (or the week before -- it all runs together). Twin B and I bought an oscillating sprinkler and a timer but had difficulty attaching everything. When finally done, it leaked at the faucet and Hubs says he will have to fix something on the faucet. We we can't use the timer until we can leave the tap turned on without running water constantly. But we used the manual setting on the timer and watered things. Since then it has rained a record amount for July around here. We have expensive tomatoes, too, but they are so good I think they're worth it.
Trying to prepare the house for the postponed heat treatment. Must remove all candles, aerosol cans, and musical instruments. (I really can't get the piano out of the house and I'm questioning where we'll put the stand-up bass). The dressers can only be half full. I can't remember if he said anything about the closets. My bedroom needs serious decluttering.
I cleaned out 4 drawers in the kitchen, including our catch-all drawer. There are tools that I need Hubs to put away somewhere. I can see having a few tools in the house but what we had seems like overkill.
Hubs is being obstinate about this treatment but we have tried doing things his way and failed so it is time. I don't know if he will help much with getting prepared. Yesterday he "had to" mow and he broke the mower so today he "had to" repair the mower.

Having fun on vacation is tiring! When I was working, I would take a day pre-vacation, for prep, and a day post-vacation, for recovery-before-returning-to-work. Now that I'm retired, I remind myself I need to recover from a trip. ? I enjoyed seeing the photos you posted, thank you for those.
OMG...Braves lost to White Sox ?.
Nannie requested to go to bed at 7:50 PM! Then a while later she got up to the bathroom. I got up to see if she needed any help, but she pretty much had everything taken care of. I walked her back into her bedroom because she only had her socks on. The bed was totally made up! I told her making up the bed before she went to the bathroom was dumb, because when she got back in bed, she slept on top of her covers, and only pulled a fleece blanket over her, that always goes on the top. She shut her eyes and her lips were pinched, so I suppose I made her mad. She won't remember it tomorrow.
Tweety, it's for the bedbugs. They literally heat up the house to some really hot temp (between 150 and 200, I can't remember exactly). It's expensive but we have tried everything else -- pesticides, mattress covers, throwing away lots of things, and washing clothes and linens and putting in a hot dryer. Hubs has said Gma can pay for it since she brought them. I wonder if that means she'll also pay to board the pets for a night and put us all in a motel for 2 nights. I don't see any other way to do it.

Tweety glad you were off for 4 days
Dianah glad you got the irrigation system figured out
Stars that was cool you saw a fox, I haven't seen one in person for many years
I did end up getting another new case at work yesterday, but in spite of that the day was pretty good overall
After work got the cat's meds at the vet and stopped briefly at a local bar to check it out. Seemed a good though small neighborhood bar. Though I get the impression that bars today are not places to meet people but meet up with people you already know
Did some more research on Meetup and found a gay group that's located in the suburbs, which is definitely convenient as most are located in the city
Today have bird watching, now that the rain has finally stopped, and then lunch with dad as usual. Might do some CEUs if I have time. Svengoolie has Ghoulies II, which I'm going to skip
Will be fairly warm today, in the mid 80s, might get some more rain this afternoon
