Good morning. Everyone sounds so motivated and busy. I spend most of my days reading or sketching or playing guitar or doing something for one of the 3 dogs.
Our weather is upside down. It's 0530 and it's °36 F and raining in the interior of Alaska. They say that this will mix with snow as we get closer to sunrise (~0930). That makes everything unstable. A huge mudslide cut off our primary road to Anchorage yesterday. Store shelves are about to be emptier.
tmb~ I hope the mudslide is cleared in short order. That'd be tough to deal with, I think. Hope you have sufficient supplies to tide you over.
It's going to be 48 and sunny today. I don't care.
Glorioski and hallelujah! I actually SLEPT WELL last night! And Nannie is still in bed so I have to go get her up, but at least she didn't get up and wander last night!
I'm not so much physically tired as I am emotionally tired. Not much "perk" to start my day. Oh well. Same old same old.
Not a bad afternoon so far....I have scraped the leftovers from supper into the 'gribbage' and have the dishes soaking in hot soapy water. (I was too, too tired last night to do anything more than put our trays of dirty dishes on the counter and walk upstairs to bed.) The kitchen counters are wiped off. I have the laundry in the dryer now. I have plucked the little black hairs off my chinny-chin-chin. I am doing it all at a v-e-r-y slow pace so I hardly consider myself 'busy' today, Just doing what has to be done because nobody else will ever do it. *sigh*
But what made the early part of my day so nice, was the Nannie-person has had closed eyes, an open mouth, and a tipped-over head ( supported by her new neck pillow) for a while now and it is very quiet in the den.
Y'know how I've told y'all that I often have a song in my head when I wake up ? Well, this mornings song was an oldie: "So you met you someone who set your back on your heels, goody goody, So you've met someone , and now you know how it feels, goody goody; So you gave her your heart too, just like I gave mine to you, and she broke it all to pieces, so now what will you do?" Hmmmm, I gotta wonder from whence these songs pop into my brain; I sure can't think of any situation, or any remembered dream, that has provoked this morning's lyrics! Oh well...."THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!" ...or what passes for entertainment in my life, currently.
I am going back to work a word-search puzzle book which I have been racing through while Nannie's TV show is on. I listen, and only look up when I hear someone talking about a view or the look of a newly decorated room. It keeps my mind occupied with dross that doesn't stir me up, or also keeps the evening from being totally boring. Someone asked me why I don't do jigsaw puzzles. That's an easy answer I can provide by using another example of a hobby that has the same problem.....if there were consecutive sentences on YARN, I would be happy to knit and read at the same time.
That is why my sister's husband says my family is a bunch of printed-word-junkies. It is true, we are! Could be worse, ya know! 😋
G'day
Joe, hope you're having a good time with your activities planned.
Stars, glad that you are having a decent day.
It's been a very pleasant day in the 60s. The last few days it didn't make it out of the 40's.
I got a wild hair up my butt and got a new iMac from the Apple store. I was having problems with the old one and felt it time for an upgrade. The set up was really easy. It's connected to my wireless and is not plugged into anything which is different. A lot of what was on my old iMac made it to this one, but hopefully minus the bugs. So far so good.
Best friend tagged along and we went to Ikea which he'd never been to and was blown away by their size and many things. We had lunch. I had the vegan Swedish meatballs and he had a salad. He had been looking online at their furniture offerings for when he eventually goes back to his condo which is still months away.
Neither of us bought anything.
Hi. Another cool day. It was frosty when I went for my jog/walk this morning, but with no wind, it wasn't too uncomfortable. There were no ducks at all on the ponds, which seems weird. I got the valuation on my car, so I hope to look, with help from my eldest ds (he's a car guy). I'm not sure when I'll get the payout.
Did some laundry, some reading, a little jigsawing. The events of the past week have me a little sad, mostly for my kids and grandkids.
I like going to Ikea, but it's so far away, I don't get there much. I like the duvet covers, and I poke around in the kitchen utensils.
TMB, it never occurred to me that you would get mudslides, at least this time of the year. They happen around here, usually after a heavy snowfall, followed by lots of rain. The Amtrak gets washed out 2-3 times a year. A lot of it runs along bluffs along the sound that wash out.
Joe, that is pretty cool that you've found a group that is so active.
Hi Annie, Dianah, and Stars.
Well. I accidentally hit the down arrow to react to J22's post -- before I even read it. I fixed it.
I've never been to Ikea. I'm pretty sure there is one in OKC.
Not a very productive day but I did *finally* get that fridge cleared out. Now I'm sitting and watching old Outer Limits episodes with Hubs.

Stars that sounds like an exhausting day, it was too bad that they couldn't keep her a while and give you some rest
Dianah cream of mushroom soup sounds good
Ado it does sound like she is declining, but you're right hard to tell how much time left
Hi Crunch and NJ22
Tweety glad work was good
Work was good for me yesterday too, not slow but also not busy. After work went out to a local candy shop to buy some candy to celebrate the weight loss. Planning to have little every day, so I don't regain what I lost.
Today have a meeting for coffee with the over 50 group, it's a new event and I want to support the organizer. Then lunch with dad as usual, then I have an even of my own with the over 50 group at a pizza restaurant. No birdwatching today, although the trails are probably too icy now anyway
Svengoolie has Godzilla King of Monsters which I'll skip
Going to get quite warm today, for January, up to 40 degrees
