Stars glad you're going to give the doctor the full story Monday, that should motivate him to push for inpatient rehab as this plan clearly isn't working

Ado that recipe sounds interesting

Tweety glad work wasn't too bad despite having no tech

Work was not too bad, but began to get busier in the afternoon.  I had wanted to take some time at the  end of the day to help coworkers, but found myself having to work faster and faster to do so. I did find some time, although by then no one was in need of help

Evening was fairly quiet.  Starting a Friday routine of drinking red wine while listening  to classical music,  then taking a bubble bath, to relax from the week's  stress.  Was relaxing.  Texted with J, he's still sore from his biopsy, will get the  results next Tuesday

Joined the 21st century and got a book from the library in digital format.  Was recommended by a church member as something that might be helpful for evangelism.  So far it seems pretty good.

Decided not to do knitting anymore, I notice that while I knit I'm clenching my jaw and feeling an increase of tension. Not the relaxation other people experience while knitting.  I think I don't tend to care for repetitive activities

Unlike last weekend, this Saturday should be fairly ordinary.  Will do bird watching,  hopefully it's not too cold.  Will do some laundry, get the update Covid booster and have lunch with dad

Svengoolie has The Invisible Man, which I don't care for so I'll skip.  Before Svengoolie they have  Three Stooges shorts,  but the ones tonight are mostly later ones, which I  don't care for, so I'll skip  that was well

Will  be in the low 30s today

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a good weekend.

To clarify we had techs on day shift, it was the night shift that was screwed that had no tech.  One side on day shift started with 3:1 ratio and two techs on the floor.  Of course when I work the floor it's 6:1...LOL

It's cold here today.  It's in the 40's and the high is only supposed to be 52.  I'm trying not to run my heat too high because of inflation.

Going out with best friend tonight.  Going to see a jazz quartet that many in our age bracket might have heard of called Manhattan Transfer.  They've been a group for 50 years and apparently this is their last tour.  One of the founding members has passed away.  They had a couple hits in the 70's.

Going to try out a new vegan restaurant in town that opened last October that I've been wanting to checkout.

Will hopefully get into an early hot yoga class although I don't think they can heat the room up that hot.

? ? It's a funny image I have in my head of you gritting your teeth and determinedly knitting-knitting-knitting! You are right, if it creates tension, it sure isn't a relaxing pass-time!

Tweety, I remember Manhattan Transfer...but I will have to look them up to remember any of their radio hits.

Hubby is about to get up out of bed. I looked in the Ford and in the trash bin and found nothing but one empty little vodka bottle, and I better not find any more. I will check in one of his dresser drawers I've seen him slip something into when I show up at his bedroom door unexpectedly. He was sitting on the side of my bed last night, and I saw him with his hand in my small wastebasket that I keep beside my bed. HE said he thought he'd dropped a cigt butt in there that might not have been completely extinguished. Later I looked in there and saw the small vodka bottle he'd apparently hastily ditched when I went upstairs. It's a good thing he doesn't have a grandmother to sell! Isn't that what extent they say an addict will go to get a 'fix'? He doesn't need Pepsi zero, and has plenty of cigarettes. The only excuse I can think of him coming up with is the darn otterbox, and he better not purchase any vodka if he says he has to go to the Verizon store again. I may just go with him and let Nannie nap on her own. We'll see.

All for now.........

Anyway, Nannie has been gotten up and toileted and dressed, had her lunch, and is now about to nap. (I hope).

PS: what a couple of sneaks in this family. After I wrote above about Nannie about to nap, I looked up to find she had been looking at me, but she snapped her eyes closed really FAST so as not to get 'caught'. Good grief. (and who cares, anyway?)

So, plans made can be plans failed. I said to hubby, "You are not going to drink today, right?" and he said, "I'll try." I told him if that's all he could say, then he might as well go get enough vodka to get him through until Monday AM, because I am not going to give him ANY Ativan if all he can promise is that he would TRY to not drink. Too IFFY for me to trust him, and I won't contribute to him reeling and falling, which is what he does when he mixes his 'highs'.

And so it goes...

Hullo. I'm not feeling very energetic today. I tried to run, and quit early. I have lots to do, and just no oomph. I finally got most of the ornaments off the tree, packing them into their own little boxes, but I still have some to pack up. I should start pruning roses and fruit trees, clean up storm debris, and do laundry, but phlbbbttt. Oh, darn, and now the Seahawks game is coming on. And I'm cold. It's about 50 degrees, but damp. We keep our house around 66-68, but sometimes I turn it up to 70. At least I don't hear the furnace running 24/7 like we did when it was 5 degrees and a 30 mph northeast wind blowing. dh's old employer finally told him they are not going to give him a part time job. I felt like they were stringing him along, hoping he would give up. So now, I hope he will follow through with finding some volunteer positions to stay busy, and away from the TV.

Manhattan Transfer sounds like a fun concert. " Get your kicks, on Route 66!"

Hello all!

Stay the line, No Stars!  Sounds like Mr. Stars just hasn't reached that point where he REALLY WANTS TO QUIT DRINKING.  Yah, I know, I am Captain Obvious...

nursej22, hope you just rested today.  Sometimes our bodies tell us it's time to just do NOTHING.  Hope tomorrow you feel more energetic.

Tweety, I remember Manhattan Transfer!  That sounds like a good concert!  Waiting for the report back!  Enjoy your days off!

Joe, I hadn't thought about a digital library.  Hmmmm, how cool is that??  So, instead of knitting, what hobbies would relax you, would you say?

Well, our first day of playing music for the Museum is done.  We arrived at 10:30, and dh set up three microphones and two speakers.  Arranged our chairs.  Warmed up a little on the banjo.  Bass player (who is playing guitar for this program) arrived around 11:20.  We played from 12-1 and from 2-3.  Most of it was according to a list I'd made (name of song and key).  We did play for a line dancing demo, during each hour's music.  That turned out well.  Although the weather poured down rain most of the day, some folks braved it to attend, and roam the museum.  Kids had a couple tables in the same room we played in, at which they decorated construction-paper cutouts of boots, or decorated a bandana (which they then kept).  It was, after all, Old West Days!  In the lobby was a tatting demonstration, and some hands-on areas for that.  Then there was our music.  All the staff members wore cowboy hats and boots.  They were all into the theme!  It was lots of fun, and the music was well-received.  Tomorrow we will do the same, music from 12-1 and 2-3.  Chance of rain is 57%.   Then, next Saturday, we will do same but at the branch museum in Apple Valley (near bass player's house).    Luckily, no rain is forecast for then!

After the music we met at the local Mediterranean restaurant, and enjoyed their lovely hot tea and stuffed grape leaves, vegetable sambousas, and other dishes.  SO. GOOD.   And good conversation, as well.  ?

But, we are tired.  All the instruments are put away till tomorrow, and dh just fell asleep sitting up on the couch, a cat on his right side and the little dogger to his left side.  ?

Have a good evening!

Hope you all had good days.

Joe, you're probably wise to realize that knitting was causing more tension rather then being relaxing. I do digital downloads from the library pretty frequently. Just started reading the book club's selection for the month, since I *finally* finished The Grapes of Wrath.

Tweety, 6:1 with no tech is no picnic. Even on night shift. I remember us having a Manhattan Transfer Christmas CD that I liked a lot. They've done several of them and I bought one later that wasn't nearly as good. Hope it was a good time with good music.

dianah, that sounds like a fun day.

J22, I feel ya. I had high hopes for productivity today but just couldn't seem to get there. Did buy lots and lots of groceries, and made the curry recipe. I liked it. Hubs wouldn't even try it. He heard me tell his mom that it was kind of spicy hot and he saw onions in it so he wouldn't even taste it. He said it didn't have anything in it that he liked except the broccoli. I pointed out that he likes beef. He said but not with onions in it, and that I know he hates onions. So I guess I'm never supposed to cook anything with onions in it. Yes, we're still arguing about this after 33+ years.

There was a water main break in our small town so we've been without water since late afternoon. So far the hospital has sufficient water pressure. The nurse and aide on the floor set aside some water just in case. But if we do lose pressure the lab might not be able to process chemistries. No water at home meant that I cooked the rice for the curry in bottled water and we couldn't clean up the dishes. And I didn't make the birthday cake I was planning for Hubs (well, I could have but would have made a mess I couldn't clean up). The city says it could be 10 am before water is restored so the church has canceled everything but the worship service. We'll do the fellowship dinner next week. I gave Hubs his card and t-shirt with "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?" and he put on his shirt.

Stars, hang in there. Yeah, it sounds as if he hasn't really made up his mind he wants to quit drinking.
