Good Morning, Boies and Gurlers!
And it really is still morning! I woke up half an hour ago, fed Momo, made a cup of coffee, and came back to bed to lounge under the down blanket. Even though the thermostat is set on 72, it was cold in here, so when I went down to the den to feed Momo, I turned on the electric fireplace. Being cold is what woke me up; I was huddled under the blanket, with it over my head, even! Sometimes when I do that, breathing under the covers is sufficient to warm me up, but it didn't work today, and that's why I got up. I'm already ready to make a 2nd cup of coffee and return to my warm spot in the bed, leaning up against a bunch of pillows.
Today's weather ... well, heck, the weather for the next EIGHT DAYS is sunny and in the mid-50's. No rain until a week from tomorrow! Not complaining, mind you, but it is weird when much of the country is having all kinds of not-so-nice weather.
Last night Momo peed on the sofa, which p'd me off. After I tried to absorb as much as I could, I turned the ceiling fan on before I went to bed. I will have to start putting under-pads under the cover that is tossed over the sofa, because I saw another little ring of dried pee I had not noticed before. This has GOT to stop! I noticed that where she had sat on the step before you step up into the kitchen, and she had peed there as well. By the way, I think she is out of heat now, because there are no more little blood spots anywhere she sits. But she has not lost enough weight to get spayed. To be truthful. I am not excited about her having her surgerized, because she will probably have to wear the 'cone' to keep her from licking on her incision.... And, she'll have to be still for two weeks, according to the vet. Good luck with that! Anyway, I know it will have to be done sooner or later, but I dread the additional responsibility of watching and keeping track of her; the 'cone' will probably give her problems getting on and off the sofa, even though there are two footstools placed as stair-steps up to the sofa seating.
Gotta get that 2nd cup of coffee now.... and toss down my meds. I'm not sure of what I will be doing today. Two possibilities cross my mind, and they are: pulling the plates, bowls and food storage containers out of the cabinets, and straightening them out. That is another of my pet peeves -- having those things shoved onto the shelves all higgeldy-piggeldy, like they are now. Hubby started doing that, and I got tired of trying to keep things straight. I want to store them 'nested' according to size and type of storage, like glass with glass, and 'Bubber-maid' and their lids together. I'm not being (for TOS:) 'A-NALL' about it. It just makes finding things easier. // The other possibility is my previous bedroom which is still heaped up and needs untangling, and/or the former main bedroom which still has stuff heaped on the top of the bed and dresser.
SiL sent me a text yesterday saying she had ordered some Greased Lightning from Amazon, so she can attack the filthy kitchen floor. I used to buy it all the time, but can't find it on store shelves here anymore. For particularly dirty areas, like what was under the refrigerator when we had purchased a new fridge for our old house, I used to spray it generously and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then I could just wipe it all off with a paper towel -- no scrubbing needed! Then I'd just do a plain water wash with the mop after that. Easy-Peasy! SiL said she is going to use Nannie's floor-buffer, also. Have at it, girl, my upper extremities would complain heartily, if I were to do that floor. Another thing I have had in mind to do, I also may spray down the glass doors and squee-gee them, as they are also gross, and really need the attention. Remember GLASS-WAX? That made doing windows easier, and with less streaking. I suppose I could lay hold of that or a similar product, but I haven't searched for it anywhere, so that's a moot point.
Not sure which afternoon (for 2-3 hours after she gets off work) SiL will be coming over here this week. She keeps telling me that she will have more time to relieve me of my duties, like for a whole day... 'soon', whenever that is.
Guess I ought to get dressed and make my bed.
Later, y'all~
Joe, the Vernors was sugar-free; only ants on a diet would go after it. ? Hope bird-watching is interesting today!
Ado, good you get some "off" time from Gma. Enjoy lunch out!
No Stars, perhaps Momo needs a doggie-diaper! Hope the den has warmed up by now, with the fireplace and fan going. Re: arranging the containers: No matter how I try to arrange mine and keep it organized, it still looks higgledy-piggledy, and when he retrieves a container and matching lid, dh will always refer to that task in this way: "I've been to hell."
I had another night of insomnia -- two in a row. Maybe I will sleep well tonight. A couple days ago I made hummus for the first time. It was surprisingly easy, and tasted good. So, maybe I will make it more often! Tonight will be our last meal of the Hungarian Mushroom Soup. I plan to make a tomato soup tomorrow. It is nice out today (temp in the mid-50's), and tomorrow will begin a few days of rain!
Dh and I finally decided what bluegrass festivals we will attend this year, and I purchased tickets (online) for two of the three we chose. He texted our neighbor who does pet care, and she agreed to the dates.
Got word yesterday that youngest ds and dil will fly out on Thursday! Yay! We will pick up oldest ds and meet them at a favorite restaurant, to catch up on all the news. We had a recent Zoom call with them, so we are pretty caught up, but it will sure be nice to see them!
Have a good day and evening!
dianah~ I know your husband said he had been in hell, about the food storage containers and lids, but for everyone, here's a good response if someone tells you to go to he!!.....(I saw it on a bumper- sticker) "I went there, but it was too crowded, so I came back."
BiL has been here all afternoon, cleaning and sorting in the shed. He has made a good bit of headway, you can actually walk 10+ feet into the shed now! There was lots of trash, and stuff hubby saved in case he could use it later, but never used; plus 2 dead vacuum cleaners, furniture we thought we'd use after Nannie passed away (yuh, right!) and a rusted edge trimmer and who knows what-all else! This is such a huge help, as I am having enough to keep me busy in the house. He said he can probably repair the old rocking chair that the kids broke....the ones who were packing our moving truck virtually SHOVED it all into the truck, and there went the arm of my rocker! And since then, mice have been helping themselves to parts of the seat cushion (so old, it was originally stuffed with straw!) That is a most comfortable rocker, doesn't look like the high-back ones at all; plus it has sentimental value to me because it belonged to the neighbors, sweet old folks I knew all my life.
Anyway, I was able to run back out to to the store while BiL was here, so I could replace the mayo and ketchup that was in the fridge for a long time, and looked dubious to use. I seldom use mayo, and I hardly ever eat ketchup. Ya see, ketchup was what my mother put on my helping of sword fish to help me eat it with less fuss.....and the result is, still all these years later, I DON'T like swordfish, and Ketchup is pretty much MEH to me, unless I use some in making a meatloaf, which I have not made for 6 years! So there ya go!
Nannie keeps asking who that man is in our yard, and almost every time that I tell her it is her youngest son, she says, "Really? I didn't know that." More swiss-cheese holes in her brain these days, but thankfully it doesn't seem to bother her that she doesn't remember things very well.
Eenywayz, that's all for now!
G'day.
It's after 1AM here in Florida. I'm finally home. It was ordeal because my bad flying karma kicked in and they canceled our flight due to maintenance issue. Someone said they canceled yesterday's flight two and she thinks it because of a strike in Frankfort were where to fly to. Luckily a flight was added by another airline and we were able to get out via Newark, a 16 hour flight. Luckily to the flight was undercooked and I had a row of three seats to myself. So after the first meal I laid down and took a my sleepers and actually slept a few hours.
That aside, it was an amazing trip and we had a good time. I'm going to take a few days to recover.
My late Billy would panic when he was crated, not sure what his background was but I had to give up on that. When I took him to the vet and they had to crate him they said he would brake and try to claw his way out. There are soft cones you can get if you need to.
Dianah, hope you can get some sleep.
My home was a chilly 67 degrees and I must have hit a wrong button because it didn't warm up. My brain is fried.
Have a great evening/day.

Stars glad you were finally able to find the SSA office
Ado what is the CIC exam?
Dianah it was good that the leaking soda didn't attract ants
NJ22 hope your DH is feeling better
Work ended up being busier than expected. Spent most of the day getting the new cases ready, was told that I should be contacting all the new people by next week. So I had to get all the preparation done today so I can start making calls Monday. Which I did, though lunch was cut short and I had to leave a bit late
Rest of the day was fairly quiet, just exercised and downloaded dating apps. Have been focusing more on mindfulness lately, as a result of something the counselor said. She said anxiety has to be managed internally, as changing external circumstances doesn't help much because our world is too good at generating anxiety. Which is good as I've also begun adding caffeine back into my diet.
Today the weather is dry and not too cold so I'll give bird watching a try. Will meet dad for lunch as usual, and bake some lemon bars to freeze before next week's potluck. Svengoolie has Revenge of the Creature, which is decent so I'll watch it
Will get up to the low 40s today, rain has held off all week so things shouldn't be too muddy
