Tweety white bean and barley stew sounds good.

Stars it could be her age and limited vision.  Also could be that dogs just aren't as interested in chasing mice as cats are

Dianah it's understandable that you would be concerned, given that you haven't heard anything in 2 weeks.  I did South Beach for a while, did lose weight but didn't keep it off

NJ22 I hope the roses recover

Yesterday was another quiet day at work, which I was glad for although I do hope things begin to pick up, just a bit

After work went to a local pub, had a fancy cocktail (an Aviation) and some fried pickles and hung out there a bit.  Place has an interesting vibe but isn't too crowded or loud.  Afterwards decided to do the remainder of the grocery shopping

Today will head out early for bird watching, then will go to the dentist to get the molds made for my mouth guard.  Then the usual lunch with dad

Svengoolie has The Wolf Man, which isn't a favorite of mine, so I'll be watching another opera.  Currently looking at area volunteer opportunities, as I haven't done that since last year

Cooler day today, in the upper 40s

I'm awake and lounging in bed. Have already fed Momo, and put out a tray with Nannie's pills, a spoon, a glass, and napkin, ready for Nannie's breakfast....because I THINK this is a day when SiL is supposed to come over and get her up. I certainly HOPE it is  today! I will be very disappointed if it is not! If she's not here in half an hour, 😣 it'll be time to go wake Nannie up and get her dressed. (*fingers crossed" that SiL arrives soon!)

Was reading a 'news' story that said that ONE JUROR could upset the applecart in Trump's trial, causing a mistrial. I fervently hope it doesn't happen. It sounds like a John Grisham novel, but in his novel the bad guy would then somehow be in a worse spot and would end up in jail for his misdeeds anyway. They say truth is stranger than fiction, but maybe something could happen that would entirely eliminate Trump's candidacy in an even weirder event... like a Mickey D's cheeseburger and fries over-dose. Hmm.

I am not awake enough to decide what I might do today, and until, or when, SiL arrives I am not going to plan anything.

SS check arrives on Monday, thank goodness. I think I will prepare any bills due, and write the checks out tomorrow, put 'em in the "outgoing" pile for Monday's mail.

Okay, all for the moment. Will prolly be back here later on....

Darn, Ratz, and Phooey! It is just after 2 PM and SiL has not called or come by. I got Nannie up and she was already dressed and dry, so after a trip to the bathroom to change one pad, I brought her out to her recliner; She was giving me a play-by-play of the sun being hidden by a cloud and then the sun shining brightly, I guess in case I hadn't noticed it doing so.

If SiL is working and plans on coming by after she gets off work (3-ish), that will be useless to me; I don't plan on going out anywhere, and who knows if I can get my gumpties up to do anything in the house? So the day is pretty much shot from the get go.

Nannie is sitting with her eyes closed, but she is not fully asleep/asleep....yet.

I believe I will go up to the kitchen and prepare a casserole for our supper tonight, That shocks even ME!

The casserole was good and very easy. I didn't put it in the oven, though. (whole wheat elbows, diced ham, corn, peas and black olives). As my son-in-law used to say: "It filled a hole."

We watched a College Gymnast's Championship, Nannie kept saying "GOOD LORD!" when the girls would jump and twist in several somersaults before landing. She somehow included her clothes, her shoes, the flowers outside, and the people on the television (from 4 colleges) altogether in the same sentence! Too bad I can't recall it verbatim; it was a doozy!

Then when Nannie got up from her recliner, I asked, "Where are you going?"// ----"In there." // ... "Which there? The bedroom or the bathroom?" //... "Just in there." ... //"Do you need any help?" // ... "NO!" .... // And then 30 seconds later, she came to the bathroom door and said, "Where is that girl that helps me?" I told her, "That's ME! I'm that girl." 🙄 (But I'm not Marlowe Thomas!) She is getting more amyloid buildup covering parts of, and getting more holes in the remainder of, her brain.  OY!

Wow, it would be entertaining if it wasn't so All. The. Time. I'm sure!

Dh and I worked up a "new" gospel song, with the banjo and guitar.  I had to write out the words and chords twice, for we worked it up in D (and it modulated to E), then we worked it up in C (it modulated to D).  Not having any music theory -- we just play by ear! -- it took a little doing, but that's OK, it's done and written down, and in TWO keys, LOL!  It's Raymond Brown's version of Softly and Tenderly.  His melody is different than the original (which was written in 1880), but he uses the original words.  We originally heard it done by Cynthia Clawson, in the 70's, and it was JUST beautiful.  We have never worked it up till now.  Dunno how much we will use it, it is not something that *ahem* would be done at a traditional bluegrass festival, LOL!

I have decided to modify my "diet" to do a lower-fat thingy, with plenty of veggies.  Just keeping track of what I eat, and stocking the fridge appropriately has helped.  I do use the keto app's suggestions for meals, but I modify them.  Can't have the diet cause my sugar to go down, while my cholesterol rises!!  We'll see how things go.  I appreciated Tweety's suggestions and sharing of his experiences.  🙂

Have a good evening!

Stars, my day has been shot, too. Hubs has been busy with all kinds of things but I've been a couch potato. I did give blood yesterday. So that's my excuse. I'm feeling fatigued 😩, right? It was Lab Week and the lab employees did a lot of fun things through the week, culminating with Friday having the bloodmobile, a dunk tank, some food vendors. I didn't participate in the games all week (and they had some pretty nice prizes) because I've been just so busy trying to get stuff done. Friday I had planned to go to an inaugural meeting of an Oklahoma chapter of the nursing informatics Association but I just wasn't feeling like making the drive to the north side of OKC so I bought food from the vendors and gave blood instead.

Twin A has bedbugs in his room again. I don't like this. He did bring in some things that we had placed in storage bins. I really didn't think they would have survived several months in the heat and cold. But. I shall have to call the company again.

So between the bugs and the large check to the IRS I'm just feeling like there's no wind in my sails. Work has been both energizing (I like figuring stuff out and getting it done) and exhausting. Blah. Sorry to go on about it.
