Santa Monica College Spring 2023 Application Status

Hi there! 

Creating a thread for students who have applied to SMC ADN Spring 2023. How many points did you go in with? Have you heard back regarding PAX testing? 

It just says a few results. But then, when you open it, it will have additional information. 
 

has anyone received any information about the orientation yet?

Hi! sorry for the late reply, but general advice I would give is to honestly relax because once you start it is nonstop. Know what your best study methods are and make sure you are organized. If you really want to get a head start, then I suggest going over the very basic anatomy and physiology, just know how each system works normally. You can also watch videos or practice questions in fundamentals if you want see what the topics you are going to learn are. The first class is a lot more theory based.

How is everyone doing with all of the checklist requirements we have to get done? Has anyone done their CPR certification yet?

Hello!

Most items on the checklist I have completed. 

The check list specifies to complete the CPR card and purchase the after January 1, 2023 to ensure it is valid when we start clinicals. 

The FIT test is also going to be sent to our SMC email with instructions with a TBD deadline.

Do you have a specific place you are going to do your CPR at? I think it would be cool to start to get to know each other and complete it with others in our cohort.

I agree! However, I plan renew mine with my employer since they will reimburse me for it. Perfect timing as mine will expire 01/2023

Will any of you be signing up for the SMC Winter pre program warm up? If so, what day are you attending? 

Happy to exchange numbers or create a separate FB group to be able to connect with everyone!

No but my guess is they can’t match us to clinicals until the have all the info we’re submitting through CastleBranch because the hospitals will require that in order to allow us in.  So I would expect it mid January

Did anyone sign up for the lab in January? I think they said to email the instructor  to try to get dates set up. Has anyone heard back?

Sorry for the late response! 

I was confused when I got the email but I was assigned to my clinical site already. Anyone else assigned to the Veterans hospital in greater culver city? 

As for the lab, do you mean the Winter pre-program warm up with professor poy? 

I messaged her and it is held first four Wednesdays of the new year.
