Hello everyone,
I saw that there has not been a thread created for the Fall 2019 ADN SMC cycle. I got the invitation email to take the NLN PAX test and my scheduled test date is March 29th. Does anyone have some study tips or advice on the NLN PAX? Also, are there any other nursing programs you have applied to? I am really eager to get into a nursing program this round and am hoping for some tips. My TEAS score was not that strong and I really do not want to go to West Coast University and pay 180K. Please share experiences and any updates. I wish everyone the best of luck, I know how stressful this whole process is.
Nurseintheemaking, I haven't done the practice exams yet, because I won't be applying until the Fall to enter for Spring . However, I think I read somewhere that the practice exams help . I just started studying for the teas so any tips on how to study for the teas will be much appreciated as well. So far I been doing pocket prep and going over A&P.
Definitely buy the practice tests on ATI and go over the science and the last part of the English which is the grammar. Those were the most difficult. When I took my test there were a lot of DNA questions and one even asked me about Roman numerals it was crazy just try to really study for the science because that was the most difficult.
Hello everyone,
I just took my PAX exam this morning and the reports are up on the NLN website. I wasn't paying attention to the time and did not get to finish the verbal portion of the exam. Extremely bummed because I def could have aced it. My math and science portion was extremely high but my overall score was low due to me not finishing the first block of the test. Definitely not feeling too confident based on my total score. To those who took the exam Thursday AM/PM, would you mind saying how many students were at the testing center? I believe there are 40 spots available. So far, there were maybe 15 students testing on my day. Good luck to everyone! Hopefully, I can meet you all in the Fall 2019.
Hey guys sorry I haven’t been on! I took my test and I did okay I’m not sure what is considered amazing them and what is their average accepted point cut off. Does anyone know? Also does anyone know when they will send acceptances out? Im really hoping we all get into a nursing program this semester! I don’t want to wait longer ?
As far as the NLN PAX for anyone who is going to take it or is reading this make sure to buy the practice exams and go over and over on them. Also try to know a lot of chemistry because there was a lot on the test. Even organic chemistry questions and physics which I thought was wild because those are nursing pre reqs. Idk guys I hate waiting and im praying everyday that we all get in. Don’t worry @SouthbayRn have faith you never know how they calculate things. I pray we hear an update soon
Hey guys, I've been looking at this thread for a while and finally decided to comment... For those in future semesters, if you are a strong candidate (high points) begin studying as soon as you submit your application... The English portion is easy, but you have to read quickly without compromising your understanding, so begin practicing that skill. A few people I spoke with did not have enough time to finish this section. The Math is basic arithmetic, basic algebra, conversions, and some geometry (finding areas of shapes). Science was the most difficult because there was little anatomy/physiology, but A LOT of chemistry, molecular stuff, and physics. I thought this was weird because physics is not even a nursing pre-req. For this reason, I felt like the NLN-PAX was harder than the TEAS.
I scored 89% on the TEAS. 137 composite score on the NLN-PAX (92%). I have a 4.0 science and cumulative GPA.
Good luck to everyone and I hope we all get in to the schools of our choice!
unapologeticallycurly , thank you for that information . Im planning on applying in the Fall for the Spring semester. Does anyone know if you can take pharmacology and dosage calculation at another college? will they take them? im trying to see if i can get these done to earn more points being that my gpa is only a 3.0 ( i earned B’s in all my sciences) Thank you.
