Hello everyone,
I saw that there has not been a thread created for the Fall 2019 ADN SMC cycle. I got the invitation email to take the NLN PAX test and my scheduled test date is March 29th. Does anyone have some study tips or advice on the NLN PAX? Also, are there any other nursing programs you have applied to? I am really eager to get into a nursing program this round and am hoping for some tips. My TEAS score was not that strong and I really do not want to go to West Coast University and pay 180K. Please share experiences and any updates. I wish everyone the best of luck, I know how stressful this whole process is.
Hey I work in the ER as a scribe and an ER Tech at another hospital. Nurses do not need to know much about billing and insurance that is the providers job and registration because they are creating the document that is going to be billed based on their HPI physical exam procedures etc. I have my CPT and EMT if you want to be on top of it as a nurse work in the ER and if you want to know documentation work as a scribe because you are working with the ER doctors creating the note and helping them admit patients. That is the best advice I could give you from my experience and I got accepted.
@Nurseintheemaking congrats on getting accepted ✌? That was great feedback; thank you. Much appreciated.

Is anyone here planning on getting any certifications before nursing school? I’m a phlebotomist, but was also thinking I’d certify for ecg/ekg or pharmacy tech to familiarize with other parts of the field that are relevant. Maybe an ACLS cert as well.
Does anyone know if nurses (bsn/msn) should know billing codes? I know nurses/drs can bill for diff things and before/after makes a diff depending on insurance plans.
I just want to be as well rounded as possible to hopefully score a student nursing gig. I’d like to specialize and earn an MSN as well. Maybe a dr in nursing to become a nurse anesthetist. I’m in my mid 30s so I suppose I don’t have much time to acrue and pay off debt so we’ll see.
