Hi
I'm on the waitlist. I applied in March 2009 and was told I would start (if I pass the NLN in April 2010) in Fall 2010, which would be a 3 semester wait list (Spring, Fall, Spring). However I just got an e-mail Friday to take the exam in November for possible Spring 2010 entrance. I heard that it was because a lot of students didn't pass the NLN. Yikes!!!
Santa Monica College does not go by a merit system... meaning they don't select you based on how high your gpa they will place you on the waitlist if you meet the requirements. Then they require you to take the NLN which is a much harder version of the TEAS test. This is their way of weeding out the people who are not prepared because A LOT of people fail the NLN. I'm on the waitlist myself... I won't be able to start until 3 semesters from now . Really nervous about the NLN because they said almost half the people fail... hopefully I will be accepted into another program.

I'm currently in my last required pre-req class (Micro) and ready to apply to an ADN program early next year. I am most interested in SMC and was curious what the current wait time is. I saw on their website it is 2-3 semesters, so that means if I apply in March (Spring of 2010), I could potentially be starting Spring 2011 correct?
Also, can a SMC ADN graduate or current student provide me with details by day of what a typical week is like? How many hours do you spend in class, at clinicals, studying? Just trying to forecast if I will be able to continue working my part-time job once admitted to the ADN program.
Thanks for your help!
