Does anyone have any information about the agreement between Santa Monica City College and CSU Dominguez Hills? There is not very much information online.
It seems that once you are on the wait list for Santa Monica CC (which is 1-2 years), you can begin working toward your BSN online at CSUDH. I'm not sure how this works, and was wondering if anyone knows about it.
I have all my prereqs done and I'm currently finishing my BA in another field in SF, and I want to get into SMCC's ADN program afterward and work toward my BSN at the same time at CSUDH. Just trying to figure out the deal here. Anyone know??

Hi
Call the Health Sciences Office at SMC and see if you can speak to a counselor. Maybe they can give you more information. Basically I found out about it 3 weeks ago, right after I started the program. I wish I had known during the waiting period (only 1 year), I could have taken some of those classes that would have been counted towards my BSN. I think the application period for SMC ASN program starts in October so you may want to call soon, as the counselors will be hard to get ahold of on the phone w/out an appointment.
Awesome, thanks :) I'm applying in a couple weeks. I've read different things about the waiting period, do you think I will get accepted for Fall '11 or Spring '12?
Also, do you know where SMC does clinicals? Is it the UCLA SM Medical Center (my mom used to work there years ago so I'm excited about that)?
It was 3 semesters ( year & a half) when I applied but for me it ended up being 2 semesters ( 1 year). I guess it depends what date you apply. The waitlist goes based on your application date-unless they have changed things. Also it depends how many people ahead of you on the wait list pass the NLN-Pax entrance exam.
Right now we are in convalescent homes for the 1st 8 weeks. After that we will get assigned to either: UCLA-Santa Monica Hopsital, St. Johns Hospital, Cedars, Brotman Hospital, VA Hospital and some others that I can not remember. I am not sure about UCLA-westwood. The counselor will be able to tell you.
Good Luck!

The dual enrollment pilot program between SMC and CSU Dominguez Hills is coming to a close. This is due to a change in admissions procedures at SMC and desire by CSUDH to "scale" the dual enrollment beyond just one community college. Beginning Summer 2016, ADN students will be able to take BSN level courses each summer to knock out up to 6 courses prior to RN licensure. Procedures are being put into place Fall 2015.
