San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) - RN program Cohort August 2024

Published

Hi everyone, I summited my application last month (May 2024) for the next cohort that will take place in August. My GPA is 3.5 and my TEAS is 66% (Not high enough) . I'm really nervous and not sure if these scores are strong enough to get in. Share your thoughts.

How much are you still missing?

Just depends, because they just did a rough draft I guess once accepted they finalize everything. They also said they can do payment plans as well.

So just Sallie Mae?

I think I might not be able to get the loan, my credit score is really low also I don't have a cosigner. Do you guys know if there is another option to get a private loan?

Smh that sucks. I have a high credit score and still need a co-signer for Sallie Mae. I've been looking into options for the past week and haven't found anything that's why I asked on here.

I saw on internet that Sallie Mae request a minimum of 700ish something like that. 😕

With Sallie Mae I think it might be have a co-signer or bust. The payment plan during the program is a little ridiculous too

I would try my hardest to find a co-signer

My credit is 780 and I still need a co-signer for income purposes. SJVC payment plan was crazy. They quoted me $2800/month. But I don't get PELL or other grants cuz I have a Bachelors. I only qualified for about 20,000 in federal loans, so I need to borrow 55,000 total. So the 2,800/month institution financing is based on the first 10 months tuition of 28,000. You have to pay the tuition in full for the first "school year" before they finance the next one. So don't count on the institution financing. Finding scholarships has been difficult as well.

Yup payment plan was insane , they quoted me in the 2000's as well

Yeah you are right about the co-signer thing. I'm trying to find one still. I just think it's crazy they want us to do a hard pull on our credit to get pre-approved for a loan before actually being offered a seat. So if I don't get in, I have to take about a 15 point hit to my credit and have it on there for 2 years, for what?

Does anyone know when callbacks start again? I know that last day is August 1st. Also if they have already stated has anyone been callled yet?

I haven't heard anything yet. [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME, PER TOS] mentioned calls would start at the beginning of August so I'm assuming to expect a call on Thursday or Friday.

Hey guys, has anyone heard anything yet?
