San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) ADN Fall 2015

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello all. I applied to SJDC nursing program for fall 2015. Anyone else apply and want to chat about it? They will be updating the application this Friday to let us know whether or not we can submit information.

Does anyone know what the schedule is like? Do you stay on the same schedule the whole semester? I got into another program and I need to decide which schedule will work best.

They haven't announced the days or times for clinicals yet. In that packet though they do give days and times for the other lecture classes!

Do you know if they ever have night shifts or are they usually mornings and days? Because the other program (ARC) has clinicals until 8 at night.

I think Delta is just morning/daytime. Call 954-5454 and they will know for sure. I haven't heard of night ones. That would be cool.

I went to delta RN, I graduated 5/2013! I was an alternate 11 the first time, didn't get in....then was alternate #2 and got in! I remember the "course description" info you are talking about, that was a crazy packet!!! The schedule for us, was always 1 (4 hour lecture) a week, and 2 days of clinical....all 4 semesters. We had pharm online for the first 3 of 4 semesters, hope that's changed now...it wasn't helpful! Night rotations were usually 3-1130 and didn't start to be offered until OB, second semester! Day shifts were always offered too, just depended if you got them. Overall, instructors are nice, the campus is good and the skills labs are pretty ok too....we had a lecture hall that was huge, for first semester where we were all together. Then second and third semester it's half OB/Peds and then half psych/intermediate med-surg...so it was half for lecture of one and then we'd switch. For 4th semester ur all back together for Advanced med-surg. There is a good mixture of students...even with quite a few men... all were focused and good people, I think it has to do mostly with the "point/merrit" system. I do have to say, as embarrassing as it is, I am still working on my nclex. I just took it for the 4th time and didn't make it. I am really a good smart gal. I scored well in my pre-reqs, teas, and even did a bachelors in health science at cal state Hayward after my pre-reqs bc I knew I could be waiting to get into a program. I will not flgive up, and won't let that scare u now !^}but when they tell you to start studying nclex question books, do it! Good luck everyone! It was a good program, I traveled an hour and it was do-able, many ppl traveled over that and had families. You guys know, you take where you get in! Ahhhh...miss those days!!! I have uniforms if anyone is interested (they're all white scrubs by Dove I think....with the patch. Size medium tops and bottoms) they're still in perfect condition actually! and all my textbooks....if anyone wants to inbox me.

Thank you so much for the info! Are we able to pick our own classes or do we get to enroll based on lottery? I think I'm leaning towards Delta since the hours seem more stable than ARC.

Don't give up on the exam! Good luck to you!

I believe the class time is in the packet they posted except for clinicals times. I assume class times probably change from semester to semester.

So I called and for first semester lecture is on Monday like our packet says and clinicals will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Also, occasionally we come in on Friday for a couple of lab hours.

Hey all!

I applied for Fall 2015 and I have been given alternate #11. I was curious if anyone knows how this works... Do they call you or email? Do you have a certain amount of time to get back to them? Or if they call and you miss it they move on to the next?

Any information would be helpful :)

PS congrats to those who got in!!

Hi! I am an alternate too! I assume that they have to give people the chance to either accept or decline their position...until May14. Some people apply to many different programs and then they have to pick which one they want if they get into more than one. However, even after May 14th, I assume you can have people cancel for various reasons as well. So as far as your question goes, I have no idea how they notify you. Probably by email. Also, I heard they only accepted 40 students for Fall of 2014 whereas its usually 44-50. Maybe they will find additional funding and more students will be afforded the opportunity to enter the program! Unfortunately for us it's all a waiting game now!
