Published

Hello Everyone! Just starting a thread for San Joaquin Delta College RN program. Hope to hear from everyone applying! Does anyone know when the application period is going to be for fall 2023?

Just heard back from (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME), there was apparently a Board of Trustees meeting at SJDC today which explains why everyone is still on campus but not in their offices.

To drop off applications the address is: Locke building 2nd floor, room 203

To contact anyone with questions ((MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) suggests that you contact the office not me with them) the number is:
(209) 954-5454

Thank you so much!!

I have a situation and I need everyone's input!

Long story short...I completed a phlebotomy course and passed my state licence but never got the physical license because the accreditation company literally scammed our whole class. Only 9/30 students got the physical licence. So in hindsight one would think I can check mark criterion 1D which lets you state any other medical certificate/license you may have achieved. My dilemma is...after speaking to the health department and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) I was told that I had to submit documents stating both the hours I completed and issuing /expiration dates for the certificate/licence. Although I have the paperwork...I'm terrified it won't be accepted. Because (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) wasnt super clear in his reply and when I tried to confirm his statement about attaching documents that prove both requirements (dates/hours) he gave an off hand remark to just refer back the criterion 1D. At that time I went ahead and checked the box but now, seeing how unprofessional the department has been thus far...I'm terrified that ill just get disqualified as soon as the department sees I've attached extra paperwork or screenshots of (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) emails. What should I do? I literally got yelled at for calling last time and asking the same question ?

Now you are getting into the weeds (as the saying goes) and require assistance that I am not qualified to provide. I have only been regurgitating information that is publically available on the SJDC ADN web pages.

As soon as you can, please contact a nursing counselor in-person at DeRicco 234, by phone at (209) 954-5151 ext. 6276, or by chat via https://deltacollege.edu/student-services/counseling-center/make-appointment-counselor and they will get it all straightened out.

While the other counselors at DeRicco are very good, be sure to get a nursing program counselor as your questions are highly specific to the ADN program.

I wish it were easy to get an appointment with a nursing counselor. (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) is the only decent nursing counselor and she's been out on leave for months now. I had two counselor appointments and they both LITERALLY told me they didn't have any answers and to contact the health department. I've been running in circles ever since I've completed the TEAS. Also...it says all docs must be submitted at the same time. If the TEAS is electronically sent over how do you control the when the mailed documents/TEAS results get to the office? Or should I print a hard copy ?

I have empathy with your plight (I'm applying to become a nurse after all) but, I'm sorry, I can't help you with these questions. You will need to find a counselor who understands the problem, much better than I, to help you.

The issues, as I mentioned before, are that your questions are so specific that someone like me, who is reading from the SJDC ADN web pages, can't answer them.

As for electronic documents, from what I was told, during my counselor meeting, when the deadline date for submission has passed, all these documents are collated and placed into the student's file for review.

If TEAS and/or your colleges have sent over electronic document versions rest assured they will make their way to your file.

Someone asked a similar question last month during the Zoom info session. The director said only check the box if you have the physical license since it must be provided per the requirements.

Well I guess I've just risked my whole application for 2 extra points ?

Hi there!

I do not know if any of my advice will help, but I wanted to provide some info just in case it can be of any use. I apologize in advance if this is a long response. I had a somewhat similar situation regarding my Certified Nursing Assistant certification. Since I graduated from the Delta CNA program and passed my state exams so recently, I did not have access to my physical license and they told me it would come in the mail within a month. I was afraid since this might be well past the deadline for submitting documentation. Although, for CNAs all the official information such as the registry list, the license number, start date, and expiration date of the certification can be found on the official CPDH website. This is where I found the critical information that I needed to provide on the application such as the expiration date and license number, under my name on the CPDH registry list. I contacted the Health Science department and explained my situation and asked if I could just send a screenshot of the information provided on the official CDPH website to prove my certification in place of the physical license. They told me as long as it is government issued or information provided on a government mandated website it should be fine. Which is why I was able to since CDPH is the California Department of Public Health and is government regulated.

I am not really sure how phlebotomy licenses work, but I know you mentioned you already provided the information on your initial application in criterion 1D about your license or certification. I would assume that you somehow found the info such as the expiration date and license number somewhere. If that place where you found the info is a government issued website such as a registry list or something like that, I believe you could possibly utilize that as proof instead of a physical license or certificate. This was the information that was advised to me by the supervisors of the Delta ADN program.

I hope some of this information can help in any way!

Update: I believe I found the link to the CDPH License search for phlebotomy licenses. I am not entirely sure but you can try it out for yourself. Here's the link: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/OSPHLD/LFS/Pages/licensesearch.aspx

Please don't think any quote or advise is too long. I need all the help I can get. I have tried EVERYTHING in my power to get info from CDPH as well. But every time I hit the phlebotomy licence button the website freezes on me. Do you think an AMCA certification will count? It has issue date, expiration date, no licence number. The second document is from my institution that states how many hours I completed. I'm so angry with myself. I trusted the wrong people and I've been running in loopholes for months now to no avail.

I've been avoiding answering this question as I know nothing about phlebotomy licenses and I didn't want to give you wrong advice.

macncheese, however, posted a great response and I just tried the link that macncheese posted.

The site is working (as of 5 minutes ago) and I can search for people I know that have phlebotomy licenses.

Which browser are you using?  If its Chrome, switch over to Microsoft's Edge and try it again. The link above is an active server page extended file format used by Microsoft and they sometimes freeze on Chrome.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that :c I can't imagine how much stress you must be going through about this. I would say the AMCA certification might count but I would try  to contact someone about it; I know you have talked to so many people already, so I'd understand if you'd be hesitant about it given your experience. I researched a little bit and it says on their website that AMCA provides national certification exams so that may count as a governmental facility but I don't want to give any false information.

Also, I don't remember what they required for criterion 1D, if they needed a license number and all, but if you put a license number in your initial application they'll most likely need the documentation that you're submitting as proof of your certification to reflect that. So if you provided a license number in the application, but the AMCA certification does not have it on there, you may get disqualified. I saw someone mentioned something about using a different browser for the CDPH, so maybe you can give that another shot, but I'm not entirely sure beyond that.

Update: I searched it up and CDPH states that AMCA was approved by the Department of phlebotomy so, I think certification from there should work.

I tried using it. My name isn't coming up. But I do have the certificate and certificate number. They accept those right? Honestly my stress is through the roof. If I don't get in this semester it's going to ruin the motivation I mustered to return to school after 8 years

You couldn't be more right. Stress is an understatement. I have so much riding on this program. Many many years of tears and hard work. Many overcome obstacles. If I get disqualified for this reason I'll have no one to blame but myself.
