Hey everyone! I noticed there wasn't a topic for San Jacinto so I made one. I'm applying to Central campus and want to apply to North, but I've noticed there application isn't up yet! Who else is applying?

Hello, I'm applying to the North campus as well. My only concern is my transcripts. They require them to be *sealed* when submitting the application. Unfortunately, with the current circumstances Lone star and HCC only allow transcripts to be sent electronically(No mail or in-person pickup). I emailed San Jac to see if they could possibly implement an alternative option like South campus did but haven't heard back yet. Is anyone else having this issue?

Specializes in CNA.

I would call them if you can. I’ve emailed twice and never got a response. I called and they answer. There is no best time to call, just call through out the day. That’s what I do until I get an answer.

Hey! I’m also applying! I’m applying for central campus. Have you started your shots yet? I also have to retake the HESI. I took it when I applied to UT Cizik and made a 93 overall, but unfortunately for San jac all categories even the reading subcategories have to be above a 75. I ended up making a 94 in the reading section with all A’s in the subcategories except one I made a 69 ? so I’m having to retake to bring up that one subcategory.

Hey when you re-took your reading section did you average your new score with you highest scores between the 2 attempts?

Yes that’s what I did. On the application it said to just average the highest scores between the 2 attempts and that’ll be your new average.

Did anyone not complete the series of vaccinations and just get the titers done and they come out positive like they’re supposed to? With the exception of the hep c I know that’s supposed to be negative.

Even the subsections of reading and math? Average the highest subsection scores from BOTH attenpts? Just making sure I’m understanding you correctly.

Did you ever find this out? I have this question too atm.

Attempt 1 - Reading 78

Attempt 2 - Reading 97(This is the highest score)

use the highest score from all 5 required sections between both attempts to determine your average! They also don't round up.

Does anyone know if when I retake HESI I can just take the sections I want/need? For example, just the critical thinking portion and reading? I know some schools will allow that, but I am not sure if San jac does. I passed my HESI the first time, but I didn’t take critical thinking and I want to raise my score for reading so that’s mainly what I’ve been focusing on this time around.

You can retake just the section you need to be brought up, however, San jac only excepts test grades from the HESI in its entirety. Most schools only except comeplete HESI grades.

Incorrect. San Jac is actually one of the schools that allow you to retake sections by itself, they accept the highest scoring sections. They don’t make you retake the whole HESI in it’s in entirety! Their application only looks at the highest score.

OMG thank you for clarifying! I already sent in my application and I started freaking out. I even emailed the nursing advisor to ask even though I was pretty sure they allowed that.
