San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2009

Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

i just found this website and forum today, and i too was thrilled to see that someone started this. what a great way to connect with people you will soon be with on a daily basis. congratulations to all of you who were accepted:yeah:. i share in your excitement, as i too got accepted. i've been reading everyone's postings and questions and i know it must feel frustrating to not have any type of response. i could of swore that in orientation they said everyone who'd get a response whether acceptance or denial, but i'm not 100% sure. my gpa was a 3.2 overall, but that was because they take the cumulative, and unfortunately for me i began a career in cosmetology about 12 years ago, and my grades at san jac reflect my lack of interest in that field. it was a family thing. however, i was happy to hear veronica say that they would take things like that into consideration. i did complete all pre-req's and co-req's, and my last name starts with a b...so i'm not sure if any of that helps. to me, i am a firm believer in god and i have willingly admitted to everyone that i believe it was his hands over my situation and without him i don't believe i would have ever gotten in. gotta give props where they are deserved.:bowingpur

did you take mcreynolds in the fall for micro and if so, did you sit by someone that was in that class with you at the nursing information session in march??

Holy Cow! Small World. Tell me you made it!

Chelken...yeah! You did get in. So I will see you at orientation July 31 & Aug 1. Woo Hoo! I'm so happy for you. I still feel completely overwhelmed with emotion. Every morning I wake up and ask myself if I dreamed it, and then I confirm it when I open my mail box and read the letter again. LOL! Pretty lame huh? I finally printed the stinkin letter, ha-ha. Think I'm gonna frame it.

Congrats to you....I am happy for you. I cannot even think about it without tearing up. It seems completely unreal. I printed mine the minute I received it which was Wednesday night. I also replied with my acceptance at the same time. Do you have to do the CPR class? I signed up for the second class. Congrats again and I will see you soon.

Me too Me too. I was crying so bad when I read it that I couldn't even tell my husband what was wrong. He finally guessed at it, and I could only nod to confirm. I made him read it because I was afraid that I was reading it wrong. Funny how things can work you over like that sometimes.

As for CPR...I actually already took mine, because remember I was thinking about doing the LVN program? And with that you had to have all that junk done before you could even apply. So I'm good on CPR and all my immunizations. I'm going for my physical this Monday. Trying to get everything knocked off that list as fast as possible. Do any of you know where to find a picture booth to get snapshots done?????

Chelken- How was your vacation? I saw where you said you were fixing to take a vacation...

I am not sure about the snapshot. I think maybe CVS does it for passports which would work.

I am still on vacation. In fact, I am in my hotel on the Riverwalk in San Antonio right now while my daughter takes a nap. We are leaving tomorrow for Concan until Friday.

I have an appointment with my doctor on July 6th. I already have my Hep B shots completed. I decided to get it done just in case I got in! There is a lot to get done in a short period of time. I cannot wait.

Do any of y'all know if we will need to pay the full amount of the program up front or do they do it by semester?

Chelken- enjoy your vacation. You definitely need to take advantage of all the time off that you can.

You'll pay it per semester. Definitely a better proposition than paying for it all up front : )

Cool. Thanks for the info. You're right, that is a much better deal.

Just wanted to share one of my stop signs with those of you who are starting down your checklist...I thought I was good to go with all my immunizations and stuff, and that all I was going to have to do was get my physical done today...Low and behold there was a problem...It appears that I received all 3 of my Hep B shots, but my antibody test was never done... UGH! So, I've got to have that taken care of, and she said that there's always a possibility that I may need a 4th shot if my body did not buid an immunity to it. Also, I thought my TB test I had done last August would still be good, but its not. They want one from within the past 6 mos. LIVE AND LEARN.

Anyway, I just wanted to pass along one of my experiences. So the moral to this story is "Give yourself plenty of time, in case there are clerical errors that you'll have to fix before August 18".

That's some good information to know. I'm good with my TB shot as I've had two done in the last 5 months. But that Hep B stuff is kind of out of left field.

Thanks for sharing your experience on that. No doubt it'll help somebody out.

I hope so. It has taken me two years so far to get to where I am right now. I have gone through so many different experiences blindingly during those years, and now looking back I feel like I've learned so much, but I know that this is only the beginning. If there's one good lesson that I feel like I've learned is that when an unexpected situation arises...DON'T PANIC :smackingf(which was how I use to react), because most everything can be fixed, and it will all work out if it is meant to be. Boy, that sure made life more relaxing after that breakthrough, LOL!
