Hi everyone,
I opened this thread to see what is everyone doing to prepare for their applications.
I currently have 23 points based on the rubric from SanJac and will submit my application for the Spring 2020.

The hesi for each course only allow us to take it once, so is it all about passing or have to make a certain grade?
Thank you! I am very determined to become a nurse! I'm actually use to the craziness. This will be my third degree that I obtain all while working full-time and raising three children! But yes, the hesi at the end of each course is only worth 10% of your grade; so, if you're sitting at an A or B, failing won't hurt your overall grade too much. However, if you're sitting a C, failing the Hesi can take you below 75% which is needed to pass the class.

Was it really hard to get into this program? I wanted to get into UT but not sure that will be possible for me. I am about to take my HESI for the second time (because I failed the A/P section the first time). I am so nervous about everything at this point! I hope to at least get into this program, so I can begin working on getting into my career. Anyway, I guess I am just wondering about my chances of getting in.. I have retaken a few of my prerequisites to make sure I get an A or B.

The program is competitive just like all nursing programs. I, too, wanted to get into UT but my gpa didn’t quite make the cut. I also failed the A&P portion of my Hesi and bd to retake it. The Hesi weighs heavily at San Jac so try your best to score as high as you can. As long as you have A’s and B’s, a good Hesi score, and no courses in progress you should have no problem getting in. Don’t put all your eggs into one basket; apply to multiple schools. Good luck!
Hey guys! I took my HESI for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I Passed every section, and I passed the reading section with an A. However I failed one of my subsections by 8 points. Do y'all know anyone that's made it in even if they didn't pass a subsection? I just don't know if I want to spend 50 dollars, just to take a subsection.

What was your rubric score when you applied? I have a 17 overall rubric score and I don't think it is good enough. Do you know if anyone has gotten in with that score?

My rubric score was 18 when I applied. Initially, I did not get accepted with that score; I was placed on the alternate list with that score. My placement on the alternate list was number 36. I was only accepted because the 35 people before me declined the offer. If you are not accepted initially, you have a good chance of making it off the alternate list. Good luck!

Have anyone of you guys heard of anyone getting in with a C AP I have B in AP 1 lab and currently enrolled in AP2 and I'm pretty sure I'm going to pass with As
I would definitely take that A&P. Although you need a C to apply, I have yet to hear of anyone making the cut with a C. I know for Alvin they also look at the how many times it takes for you to pass with a decent grade. Whatever you decide I wish you the best. We can't give up & we MUST have Faith! ?

But I went to the information session and the lady said that we cannot apply if one is in progress... till this day it still says it on the website so what do I believe ?
That's crazy because I spoke with with the department for North & I was informed that the system decided to allow 1 course to be in progress especially since there was so much confusion. She said definitely by the next cycle the rule will be no courses in progress. I wonder why the stopped the "1 course in progress" anyhow?!

Hi,
The new rule started applying the Spring and so on. I asked and knew that because of the wait list was long and the cohort had good score to be considered and they also had completed all their perquisites. That is why they decided not to allow 1 course in progress anymore.
