Hi everyone,

I opened this thread to see what is everyone doing to prepare for their applications.

I currently have 23 points based on the rubric from SanJac and will submit my application for the Spring 2020.

I took my hesi and didn’t do well on the “implications” section. Can anyone tell me what implication questions are or what they look like on the hesi so I can study better?

Hi, I asked directly the Chair Department and I can ensure that is it correct that we CANNOT apply with 1 pre-que in progress. This is new applying for this Application period Spring 2020 ( cause they have long list of cohort), so I don’t know if it still apply for future admission.

Hi everyone,

Can the Hep B vaccine and titer still be in progress or must they be completed by October deadline?

Hey guys, I am a Level 3 nursing student at the north campus. Feel free to ask me any questions; I will do my best to answer them. Good luck to you all!

The positive titer is required to apply, but if your titer is negative then the proof 2nd shot is required to apply.

Thank you so much! I have so many think to ask. I heard of taking Hesi for 8 more times so I don’t really understand what is it and when do we have to take and pass it in order to stay in the program.

Also how was Pharmacology? I’m planning to take it this fall and will start my program in Spring 2020. Do you recommend to take it before the starting the program? Is it the hardest class?

Hi thank you for offering to help! Can you tell me what days are clinical? Do they let you choose your clinical days or are they chosen for you ?

Yes, you will have to take a Hesi for each course after the first semester. The Hesi is worth 10% of your grade so it can either help or hinder you depending on your overall grade in the class. There is an exit Hesi at the end of the program that you are required to pass.

Although pharmacology is not the hardest class in the program, I do recommend that you take it prior to starting. It can be difficult to focus on pharm, your other nursing course, and the clinical all at the same time. Good luck!

No problem! Clinical days can vary each term; I had clinicals on Mondays for two semesters in a row. Whereas other people in my cohort had it on Wednesday or even Friday. The clinical days are selected for you; the clinical coordinator may be able to switch around your clinical day if it conflicts with other things you have going on. It definitely doesn’t hurt to ask!

Thanks so much for your response! I’m curious about the HESI exam for each course , so how many attempts you have to retake the Hesi for each course and does retake hurt the grade ? Do you work during the program and how do you personal feel about the program? Is it hard to get A’s in the program or even to pass?

You only have one opportunity to take the Hesi for each course. I am not sure how many chances you have to take the exit Hesi because I haven't reached the end yet lol! I have worked full-time throughout the program and I am a mother of three. Every program has their pros and cons but I am happy to be in the program. It's hard for me to get A's because I work and I have kids; however there are a few people in my cohort that have received A's.
