san jac adn program spring 2017

Published

Hello!

I have just applied and, I just wanted to know if anyone has also applied and what are your gpas and hesi scores? I am really nervous about not getting in. I am already using my fall semester to take extra classes for my gpa because I did not get into any BSN programs. Houston's BSN programs are really competitive so I understood why I could not get in but, I don't want to waste any more time. It really sucks when everyone is getting into programs while i'm just taking gpa boosters. My gpa is at a 2.8 and I got a 82 for my HESI score.

Thank you!

Has anyone purchased and received all the books yet? I wanted to see what was included in the fundamentals bundle or the Nursing skill pack. When I search the provided ISBN no result show up for those particular sets.

i ordered them through the online bookstore and i haven't received notice that they are ready í ½í¸’ Remember that north campus bundle is different than central campus

Has anyone gotten their physical done outside of their PCP's office? I wanted to know if somewhere like a RediClinic or the like could do this. I have a PCP, but would rather not take off work for it, as I only have 2 weeks left to work anyhow.

TIA!

I did mine at my PCP's office but i do know girls who did it at a rediclinic but had trouble getting labs ordered

They probably won't since they don't know your medical history and they wouldn't be able to certify you do not have previous physical conditions that would disqualify you from the Nursing program. Best bet is see your pcp asap since school begins in 4 weeks and their are holidays in between. Back in early November when i was looking to complete mine my pcp was backed up and gave me a date for mid December, luckily they had a cancellation.

I was just notified on Friday that I made it in. I'm in hyper drive to get all this done in time! lol

The medical history is a good point. I'll see what I can do.

I was going to do my physical at a walk In clinic at Walgreens but they don't take my insurance. And they would have done it. But a girl told me about a clinic on Center St close by San Jac. They fill out everything on the physical. My labs came back within 2-3 days. I do not have a PCP and they took my insurance. They just ask about your medical history. Physicals are done by walk ins only, no appt. It's called Deer Park Family Clinic. You can call and they can probably tell you pricing.

Also.... congrats on getting in!! Can't wait to meet you at Central!

Thank you so much that's really helpful!! Can't wait to meet everyone either! :)

cerda88 do you have your CRNs or class schedule yet?

I do! We didn't get to choose. They put us in the classes. For the first 8 weeks, I have class Monday and Thursday 8-11:05. And Tuesday thru friday 1-4:40. The second 8 weeks Tuesday and Thursday 12 to 2:50 and I have clinical Wednesday.

The other half of our cohort has the times switched.

I don't have mine yet, the admin said she'd give me my CRN's on the 5th. How long are clinical days? I know all of this was likely covered in orientation but I missed that b/c I didn't know I was in until after. I'm told there will be an alternate date for ori, but don't know yet when that'll be.
