Hi! I wanted to start a thread for SFSU ELMSN applicants for fall of 2024. I'm actually a current student who began the program in fall 2023 and wanted to provide a place to answer any questions applicants might have about the program. Our application cycle didn't have any connection to those further along in the program than us when we applied, which made it difficult to find information. So please reach out with any questions, concerns, or to connect with other applicants!

I'm pretty sure you have to set it up on your own and I think the recognition is that you are a licensed RN? haha
Hey all...I so emailed the school to ask when we might hear back for those of us on the waitlist. Per Hannah, August 7th is orientation for both under and grad students. So if people drop out that is the day they will contact the people on the waitlist.
Funny since the email I received informing me about my being first on the waitlist said the last day to find out was August 23rd.
Really hoping I can get in! The anxiety is real and I am trying to come up with a back up plan that might have to be outside of nursing.

Perhaps they misunderstood your question or you misunderstood their answer- you can absolutely be admitted still after orientation happens. Maybe they just meant that was a pretty significant event that would lead to people deciding to go with another program and therefore make space for more admits. Several people in my cohort were admitted after orientation, all the way up until the day before classes started. They want a full cohort and will admit people on the waitlist even if it's last minute. That's how they ensure proper funding.
Has anyone gotten a quote on how much the program costs? Per semester, year, total program (ballpark quote) for any, etc. I know it varies from person to person but I am so confused on what the internet is saying and the sfsu website. Currently they quoted me about 32k a year..... and I originally heard that it was about 30-40k total for the whole program. So now I'm extremely worried and confused on how I'll pay this. Anyone please share what they are currently having to pay or anything helpful! Thank you!!

Hi Sarah,
I got quoted 39k per year but that's including housing, food, transportation, materials/books/supplies, and personal items. On my financial aid offer they broke it down for me. A semester itself is just under $5k, meanwhile housing is over $7k per semester resulting in why the quote is a lot. Hope this helps.

Thank you for replying!! Yes this is helpful. I also saw some of the breakdown. But I got charged for housing too even though Im commuting and not housing with them. How about you though? Do we still have to pay around this much if they're quoting that?
sorry for dumb questions but thanks again

I think that's only if you decide to get housing through sfsu such as dorms or any of their off campus housing. So if you're commuting you should only be worried about paying tuition and books/supplies and transportation there. I also have a bunch of questions but mine are more based on class scheduling to let my job know if I am able to go part time or per diem.

You will follow the road map. It tells you all the classes you'll be taking each semester. Someone will reach out about it. Registration is just like any other college, as in you have to register yourself. The difference is you aren't competing for a spot in the classes, as they're reserved for the amount of nursing students admitted.
