San Diego City College - Fall 2024 Generic ADN

Published

Hey guys! I haven't seen anyone make a post for this years SDCC cohort yet so here it is. How is everyone feeling about their application? Any idea what they expect for the point system? I'm coming in at about 84 or 85/100 so I'm somewhat confident. I'm assuming it's gonna take a bit for them to process the apps so we'll see. To anyone that has gone to workshops feel free to drop any helpful info below!

It's my understanding that we applied in September for a Fall 2024 start. The next application period is in Fall 2024 for a Fall 2025 start. They don't seem to be doing a Spring start this year.

Shoot! That was not what I thought when I applied! One less school I can count on for Spring now ? I also applied to MSJC and Palomar but both are behind on their application process so I haven't heard anything

Wait September applicants start FALL?! I'm so confused! I also saw they said fall applicants start fall 2025 ?! I'm so confused! If anyone goes to the workshop can y'all fill us in?!

At some point, I thought I was applying in Sept for Spring 2024, but then I saw fall 2024. We applied to start in fall 2024 so it's gonna start 08/2024. The 2025 message was for the next application cycle and has nothing to do with those who applied this sept.

Nah exactly. I thought I saw "Spring 2024" and then it randomly changed to fall 2024...

I think it was Spring at some pt! I'm so confused because when I was applying to the school (5 schools) I always read everything so carefully because of all the differences! Is there no Spring cohort then? LOL like they make you apply a year in advance ??? Like what community college even does that! LOL it's a bummer for sure! Hopefully the two I'm waiting on is a yes! I find it weird they are sending out emails the first week of December to say yes to fall!! Like holy time gap!

At the workshop they told us that the school doesn't have enough professors and clinical locations to have two cohorts a year. The LVN-RN program starts Spring of 2024 and we begin in the fall.

Thank you for clarifying  this is such a bummer!

I know.. SDCC is really different compared to other schools, it really sucks that its an entire year until classes start but at least it gives us more time to mentally prepare before beginning! LOL

I'm thinking of applying to Palomar this January, I think they start in the fall as well?

I have an application out for Palomars Spring cohort and they are sending emails the 15th -21st! I like that they post their stats! And then the one I'm hoping to get into is MSJC just because it's closer to home! They send out decisions the 15th! So hoping for the best!! I don't want to wait for fall!! I had to take my prerequisites at a slow pace because of work/ having a child so now I'm just dying to get it! LOL I hope I don't have to wait any longer!!

I too have the three kids and work as a CNA. I feel like it sucks I can't apply now until next fall for another year . Do any of you think it's be worth going for lvn in the meantime? Those who have gone to the workshops at San Diego City college do you think it's worth attending and is there anything we need to bring? Thank you in advance

As a CNA myself I think if SDCC was your go to school then it's worth getting into the LVN to kick start for sure! Putting off a whole other year is just so hard for me to wrap my head around! I have a lot of lvn friends that love it! And you can always do lvn-RN bridges afterwards

Is the application for lvn open ?

they don't have an LVN program anymore for some reason /: but from what I remember the LVN-RN application dead line was the end of August unfortunately
