Regarding San Diego City College. When I submitted my app in 2007 I was in the mid 500s on the RN wait-list. I received another letter a few weeks ago from the college. I'm now in 400s. Even if half the people drop off I'm still probably looking at 2 more years. Hence I'm highly considering Kaplan's pricey ADN program. At my age the wait is just unreasonable. John

i just received another letter from city. i've been on the waitlist since jan 07 so i'm looking at close to two years. I'm number 204 which bummed me out. i thought i'd be in the 100s by now but oh well. we will see

You and I are on the same boat. I had my name added on the waiting list around April or May of 2007 and just recently received my continued interest letter about a few weeks ago. Currently, I am #233 which i think is way better than where I was about a year ago in the 500s. From what I heard, we will receive another letter next year around the month of March. Hopefully by then, we can be a bit closer to getting into the program. If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing to keep yourself occupied while you wait to get in? Anyway, best of luck to you!

Don't get discouraged. My number last year around this time was 188 and by January I was 67. When orientation came in May, I was number 27! A lot of people end up dropping off the list. I recommend that you take the TEAS, if you haven't already done so.

I also recommend that you start saving money now. I don't work but some students do and they're having a difficult time keeping up. The program itself is not difficult, it's just a lot of reading and once you get behind, it's hard to catch up. Books are expensive (about $700 for the first semester), on top of that uniforms, and the immunizations (if you don't have them), etc.. Many of us buy books outside of what is required and that can add up too.

during the wait i decided to become a medical assistant through a CC which i think helped me prepare for what was to come. What I didn't know was the lack of jobs for MAs. Its ok though, learning what I did was totally worth it. I work right now but just in medical records. I think i'm going to quit soon though to finish off my bachelor pre-reqs. i only have four more classes to go. So i'll probably finish those up this spring and hopefully when fall rolls around i'll be in nursing school! geez seems like its never going to happen. how about yourself? we might be classmates :nuke: best of luck to you as well. and thank you barefoot for the encouragement. i couldn't imagine waiting any longer than next fall.

I applied to the LVN-RN at City College in August of this year and am #25 on the wait list. I wish I could get in by Fall of 2009 but the letter I got said they take about 12 LVN students a year and you only start in Fall. I feel like I am ready to go to the next level. In the meantime I am going to take Statistics for the BSN eventually and Spanish because you really need it while working! :)

When I got on the list in April 08, my priority waitlist number was was 611 !!

Talk about scary. I have not yet gotten a continued intrest letter...I think those get sent out in October after you have waited on the list for a year.

i just received a letter from city college informing me about the TEAS test and the dates the college offers it. Although I already knew about these changes to the requirements, I was wondering why they are just sending this to me now and not earlier? Anyone else recently receive these letters? let me know! thanks
