San Diego City College LVN-RN , Spring 2024

Published

Hi All,

I submitted my application for San Diego City College LVN -RN today. Starting this post to connect with others who are also applying. I am wondering how many points others have applied with.

I believe I applied with 83 points if all of my life experience points count.

Best of luck to everyone ?

Hopefully we can hear anything tomorrow. Need to deceid to go to other Generic ADN progrom's orientation or waiting to this one.?

Yes, hopefully by tomorrow! If you don't mind me asking how many points did you apply to City with?

I thought about applying for generic programs also and now kind of wish I did to give myself a better shot!

I think my points about85- 90, but not sure I counted correctly. I didn't apply to city Generic ADN either. I did apply for grossmont for accidentaly ?

Hello,

I didn't attend any of the info sessions either so I can't say for sure but I think I read somewhere that you can ask them how many points you had in your application (like maybe some people miscalculate and think they have more points than they do). Since acceptance is based on multipoint criteria I think the main reason for not getting in would be just not having enough points to reach the cut off that year (which seems to change yearly). Also I believe more than one science class repeat will get you disqualified as well and prior to this year sciences had to have been completed in a certain time frame so that could be another reason ...

if you don't get in this year maybe just send an email and ask to see that info they can give to help out next application cycle.

How many points did you apply with this year ? (If you don't mind me asking )

best of luck!

Hi sorry for the late reply I think I'm around 89 points

I actually sent the school an email to clarify when we would be notified since the semester ends on Saturday, so I asked if that meant we would be notified by close of business tomorrow since that is the last business day before the end of the semester and she said... "They will go out by the end of business tomorrow".

I would think that it's not a quick thing to send out the notifications, they said they got "around 60" applicants to LVN-RN (where they said they usually only get like 30). I didn't ask how many generic applications they got this year but they had told me previous years about 250, I assume that they got way more this year (maybe double?) with the change in criteria so that's hundreds of messages they are planning on sending out by the end of the day tomorrow.

Best of luck everyone!

Thank you so much for asking!!

Wow! That is a short period of time to get all of those emails out. I wonder if the LVNs will still be first to know. Thank you for letting us know!

It really seems like they plan on notifying generic tomorrow as well based on what their thread says and just the general comment on the website. I obviously don't know what goes into this process but I think that because the LVN-RN program starts like 4 months earlier it would have made sense prioritizing figuring out acceptances etc. for that but I can't pretend to know what goes into the process but at least we will finally know soon.

I just got the email that I didn't get in. Fingers crossed for the rest of you.

I did not get in either. I'm so heartbroken. I will keep trying,  Good luck to the rest of you also.

I also got a notification that I did not get in. I am not surprised because of how competitive it is but I am bummed and honestly annoyed that it took them so long to send the notifications.

Looking at the new multipoint you can kind of tell that people were going to have very high points based on the way that the points have been redistributed.

sorry to those of you that didn't get in and congrats to those that did!

Sorry to hear that...may I ask Did they say why this time? Or was it just a generic response saying you didn't meet the multi criteria points system? Cause I really would like to know why I didn't get in the other time I applied...still waiting for my email...

It basically said too many people applied and were qualified.
