San Diego City College LVN to RN - Spring 2024
I also got a notification that I did not get in. I am not surprised because of how competitive it is but I am bummed and honestly annoyed that it took them so long to send the notifications. Looking at the new multipoint you can kind of tell that people were going to have very high points based on the way that the points have been redistributed. sorry to those of you that didn't get in and congrats to those that did!

It really seems like they plan on notifying generic tomorrow as well based on what their thread says and just the general comment on the website. I obviously don't know what goes into this process but I think that because the LVN-RN program starts like 4 months earlier it would have made sense prioritizing figuring out acceptances etc. for that but I can't pretend to know what goes into the process but at least we will finally know soon.

I actually sent the school an email to clarify when we would be notified since the semester ends on Saturday, so I asked if that meant we would be notified by close of business tomorrow since that is the last business day before the end of the semester and she said... "They will go out by the end of business tomorrow". I would think that it's not a quick thing to send out the notifications, they said they got "around 60" applicants to LVN-RN (where they said they usually only get like 30). I didn't ask how many generic applications they got this year but they had told me previous years about 250, I assume that they got way more this year (maybe double?) with the change in criteria so that's hundreds of messages they are planning on sending out by the end of the day tomorrow. Best of luck everyone!

Nothing for me yet either. They said "by the end of the semester", which I would take to mean by tomorrow 12/15/23, since the semester ends on Saturday which is not a business day. Honestly, I have very little confidence that notifications will be sent by the end of the semester since they have already told us many dates that have come and gone. I do see that the last working day before the new year is next week 12/20/23 and then they will be off until after the new year so I would like to think that we would be notified by then at least. Best of luck ?

They told me that the program starts the second half of Spring, the LVN-RN transition class is an 8 week class, it's not a full 16 week. On the class schedule it actually says the LVN-RN transition course is 4/1/23-5/25/23. So I guess they still have plenty of time to send out acceptance/denials but I think we are all ready to find out! ?

Hi All, Has anyone heard anything? -- I noticed that on the generic ADN post , as of yesterday someone had emailed the school because they had not heard anything and they were told that the denials/ acceptances would no longer be sent out this week and it would be closer to the end of the semester(which is Dec 16th). I am wondering if this is just for generic ADN, since their application period was a month after ours or if this is for LVN-RN as well. As of now the website still says the first week in December...

I had also reached out and of course they said the same, around the first week of December. They said that they were waiting on finding out about faculty and clinical sites to see how many could be accepted. I also asked about the number of applicants this year and she said about 60 , she had told me previously that they usually get about 30 for the LVN-RN, so I imagine the change in the multi point criteria and the change in the time frame in which sciences courses had been taken made a lot more people eligible. At this point I am trying to scale back my email checking and just going to assume we won't know til mid December ?

Hello, I didn't attend any of the info sessions either so I can't say for sure but I think I read somewhere that you can ask them how many points you had in your application (like maybe some people miscalculate and think they have more points than they do). Since acceptance is based on multipoint criteria I think the main reason for not getting in would be just not having enough points to reach the cut off that year (which seems to change yearly). Also I believe more than one science class repeat will get you disqualified as well and prior to this year sciences had to have been completed in a certain time frame so that could be another reason ... if you don't get in this year maybe just send an email and ask to see that info they can give to help out next application cycle. How many points did you apply with this year ? (If you don't mind me asking ) best of luck!
