San Antonio Neighborhoods

Published

Hi. I am moving to San Antonio in June. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on neighborhoods close to Fort Sam. I will be attending CRNA school there. We are looking at Kirby, does anyone have some input on the area? We will have to move without looking at the area because we are 14 hours away and can't afford to drive out there before the move. :uhoh3:

I lived in San Antonio a couple years ago. I can't vouch for kirby, but there are many nice locations if you look into the North Central area and even the North East. If you want to know about any specific areas in those locations, feel free to PM me.

We lived in San Antonio (Fort Sam Houston) for two years. Six months of that time, we lived off base in a nice apartment complex located Northeast of Downtown San Antonio. We were told to stay Northeast when looking for a place to rent or buy. Enjoy your stay in San Antonio. It's as good as you make it, and as safe as any other place you move. We never experienced any problems there whatsoever. :)

I am living in new york but am originally from san antonio and grew up on the northeast side of town where youre talking. Kirby is a nice enough area, but also look into Alamo Heights, Camelot, Windcrest...those neighborhoods are all nice. I love Alamo Heights area. It's near a private catholic uni so there are some "college" places to live so be careful to assure that youre not getting a "college" place, if you know what i mean. Feel free to email me with any questions! :coollook:

I live about 2 miles from Ft. Sam in the North Central area. Lots of good, reasonable areas around MacArthur High School. Alamo Heights is a great place to live, and the schools are the best in SA, but expect to pay through the nose for a small house. My advise is to hook up with a good realtor and go from there. Good Luck!
