Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Program Fall 2024

This is a thread for applicants who applied to Samuel Merritt for the ELMSN program for Fall 2024.

CSUF used kira talent IDK if you're familiar with that but they gave us 4 questions and we had to record ourselves into the camera with 1 minute prep time and 1.5 minute automatic timer so we didn't speak to any live person lols, and at WesternU we were interviewed by 3 faculty members and they asked a total of 7 questions. I was pretty nervous for both of them and don't think I spoke fluidly enough. Western gave me an alternate spot and I think CSUF is an outright rejection no waitlist. I was pretty bummed because I prepared for those exact questions on kiratalent for CSUF yet was still nervous. Wish I practiced more 😭

Yeah, the CSUF one doesn't seem fair since it's only one trial talk and you can't prepare enough. I applied to the NP Program at WesternU years ago, but didn't get an interview invitation. That interview seems intense LOL like a job interview more like. Congrats on making it far! What alternate spot did Western give you?

Yeah haha, thank you! I think alternate is their way of saying waitlist 😆

😂 ohh I get you. these programs are so selective, yet NPs and nurses are in demand right now. make it make sense 😢

do you know the stats for CM? (I decided not to take that interview)

Stats for CM for 2020 show as: 95 applications submitted, 67 accepted applicants.

Hi! I know we're supposed to hear back April 5-8, but I talked to my cousin who is currently at SMU in a different program and she said that we might hear back before Friday. If you guys don't mind sharing when you hear back this week, it'd be greatly appreciated! This waiting game is driving me crazy.

Hi everyone! How is everyone feeling after their interviews? It definitely wasn't my favorite thing but I am still hopeful 😭 I moved up on the waitlist for CM in the meantime. I feel like a lot of people are waiting to hear back about FNP before they make a decision. 

@nursee2b Why does your cousin think we'll hear back sooner? After not hearing back a bit later for CM, there's a chance we may not hear back until next week. 🥲

During my interview yesterday she said we would hear back this Friday

same with me. my interview was last Friday and someone said we should hear back late on Friday

@californiapoppy13 She's in the Podiatrist program at SMU and said she heard back within a few days, maybe she was just being hopeful LOL
