Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Program Fall 2024

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

This is a thread for applicants who applied to Samuel Merritt for the ELMSN program for Fall 2024.

Is anyone here who got accepted, also a nursing success seminar participant? I'm applying for Spring 2025 & would love to know whether those people got in or not.

I did not attend the nursing success seminar due to work obligations and got accepted. Although I do wish I could've gone!

Thanks for the reply! Did you initially apply and were accepted to the nursing success seminar? But just couldn't attend? And did you let the admissions team know in the "anything you would like us to know" question? Again thanks for replying! I'm super pumped to apply soon!

Thanks for the reply! And that's Awesome Kiki! Congratulations! You too Bananaslug! I know you two will make amazing RNs and FNPs! ❤️ Did either of you have clinical experience beforehand? Or do y'all think your essays were strong? Or both ❤️?

Also for those that got accepted, is there a deadline for when you have to pay your fee to secure your spot?

Honestly I didn't even apply because I got the deadlines mixed up. But I do remember attending a Q&A for Samuel Merritt and they said they do admit a lot of students that do attend the seminar. But again, I didn't attend it. 🙂

Yeah! We have until the 24th to submit and pay the deposit. I just haven't figured out to pay the deposit though LOL

I really appreciate that :’) I did not have much clinical experience. I worked as a PT aide while at UCSC and I am currently a pharmacy clerk at Kaiser! I believe my letters of rec and my essays helped tremendously. I did well on my prerequisites. Good luck to you! 🤍🤍

The rejection letter felt pretty generic. Wondering if I should bother reaching out to find out specifics to see if it's worth reapplying. Feels desperate, but if I was rejected for something I can't change I'd like to know. Still so bummed.

Congrats! Perhaps I didn't get a chance at FNP because I didn't have a LOR from a healthcare professional. I remember a counselor telling me it would be a blow to my application that I didn't have one from healthcare. If I may ask, who were your letters from? And question: I also work at a pharmacy—it's been around 10 months working here...do you think it's OK to ask for a letter from the pharmacy manager even though I work with different pharmacists all the time? Thanks!

My letters were from my current manager, an old manager from a previous job at Chase Bank and a professor from UCSC. You could attach other files and I added one more letter from a previous partner from the bank as well. I started Kaiser in 2022 but transferred to my current position last year in January. I asked my manager about 10 months into the job as well to write me the letter. So even though you work with different pharmacy's, definitely create a relationship with one of the managers to feel comfortable enough to ask them for one. Although you haven't had much time there, I would think you've worked with the managers enough for them to write you one! Let me know if you have more questions. 🥰
