Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Fall 2021

Published

Hey All

I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!

A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?

P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

For those who were admitted, out of curiosity, what day did you interview?! Just trying to see if they’re letting out acceptances in order of the day we interviewed!! Thanks in advance for helping me clear my anxiety guys ?

I interviewed on the 16th and received my acceptance this morning. Hang tight ❤️?? I hope they release more decisions soon tomorrow for those that haven’t heard yet.

I hope so too for the sake of those still waiting. This cycle one too many times I have been in a spot where others have heard back and I haven’t yet and it can be pretty nerve racking. Thinking of those who haven’t heard yet ❤️?? Hoping for good news for all of you ?

I got an acceptance this morning and I interviewed on 3/22. But as others have said, hang in there! Everything is still very dynamic.

Did anyone get any acceptances this morning (4/1)?

Hello! Does anyone know how financial aid for the ELMSN programs work? I've heard that grad students typically do not receive as much financial aid in general but I'm not sure if this also applies to Samuel Merritt. Can we still receive grants and scholarships? Any info is much appreciated! ?

Hi, yes there is not much financial aid for us available but there is quite an amount of government loans available. They encourage us to do outside scholarships to cover some of the cost as well. Overall, I do not think they will offer much (at least In Relation to the overall cost).
once everyone is admitted, I think they will have a better picture of everyone’s financial needs and what they can give us.

I interviewed 3/16 and got my acceptance email yesterday (3/31). Hang in there! I recall them saying they continue to admit students through August due to folks moving off the waitlist into admitted status. I'm not sure when waitlist notifications start going out.

Ah thank you! I am currently enrolled in the ABSN program that starts in about 2 weeks and have until tomorrow to decide if I want to proceed with the ABSN or the ELMSN program. Just trying to consider the pros and cons for both. Thank you for your response!

Congratulations.
I got into the BSN and the ELMSN program and though for many it seems so obvious which program to chose, there are so many factors such as financial aid and family life/support system. 1 year vs 3.5 years is quite a difference.
good luck with either program ?

I will happily take those ELMSN spots being considered!! It's the only program I'm interested in ? I'm joking, but also sort of not...LOL

Hi everyone. I have just declined my offer of admission for the FNP program so there’s one extra space up for grabs ?
