Hi Everyone,
I started a thread a couple of days ago but the title was vague so I hope this attracts more readers and future SMU applicants! I am applying for the Fall 2013 cohort for case management and wanted to start a thread like other cohorts to meet other applicants and support each other during the "waiting period"! :) This is my first time applying to grad school/nursing program so everything is new, exciting, and terrifying! I am finishing up my BA in Human Development and hope to continue on towards my dreams by getting into this program.
I forgot to mention the interviews as well. I think that SMU also looks for diversity and does not only accept people with 3.8-4.0 GPA's. There are other important factors that are taken into consideration that account for experience, passion, and personality. I hope it works out for all of us!
Hi All,
I just joined allnurses after reading your discussion and am freaking out b/c I submitted my application, have been patiently waiting to hear about interviews but I have not received any emails from Samuel Merritt since submitting my application!!!! And now it's a holiday weekend and I won't be able to ask about it until Tuesday! How many emails have you received?! Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Hi Curlgirl7!
Glad you joined us here on Allnurses. I have only received one email since submitting my app and I believe a copy of that email was posted on either this thread or the FNP thread. I would contact admissions to ensure they have your correct email and contact on file. Also a good way to know if your application was received is by whether your application fee was deposited (if you wrote a check). Good luck! :)

I believe SMU uses all of the above mentioned when considering applicants. I think that they use a point based system. So for each category (GPA, TEAS, goal statement...) you are awarded points and then they add them up for a total application score.
