Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Case Management Spring 2015 entry

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I didn't see a thread for the CM spring 2015 entry, so I decided to make one! Feel free to post questions or comments.

I submitted my application this past Friday... And have read through the blogs from previous years. Sounds like we will heard back around mid-August. So the waiting game begins.:cat:

I'm curious. What is the success rates for employment for grads of this program. All of the CM jobs that I am familiar with require significant levels of clinical expertise (experience) & CM certification. You can't even become certified until you have 2 years of RN experience and 2000 hours of case management experience in the last 3 years. (Nursing Case Management Certification Eligibility Criteria) I don't understand how a new grad could fulfill the responsibilities of CM.

I believe that new grads just become nurses first to gain experience and then become CMs

Friend just graduated from Samuel Merritt and he cannot find a job. It's a problem across the Bay area. He's now in their Graduate-to-Entry-to-Work program. -.- Good luck.

I wish your friend the best of luck in finding a job soon!

Hi Stephanie! I will be turning in my application by the end of this week! Do you mind me asking what your stats were - Last 60, TEAS, and Pre-req?

My last 60 is a 3.7 my TEAS is an 80 overall and my prereqs are an A in micro, A in physio, C in Chem, and B in anatomy. Yourself?

Thanks for the reply Stephanie. My last 60 units is a 3.5; teas score composite 82; pre-req grades were all B's.

Hope we both get interviews at least!

Me too! I have hospital volunteer experience so hopefully that will be a plus!

I've been stressing out about it. I've read the past threads from the previous years and sounds like we will hear back early August. Fingers and toes crossed!

Hi everyone! I am new to this forum and I submitted my application on 6/28. Now we play the waiting game!

I'm becoming more and more anxious everyday!

Just received an email a few days ago saying my application was received and being reviewed!
