Samuel Merritt University ABSN Fall 2024

Published

Hi everyone! I'm starting this discussion for those who applied for SMU ABSN program for the Fall 2024 cohort! I was curious if anyone has received updates/email yet. I personally applied to the Sacramento program. Good luck everyone! I

I got mine too, mine said they have started reviewing my application which is why they had asked for my pre reqs that I have in progress and they told me I had till Monday at 5 to respond.

I got the email saying they completed the preliminary review of my application, but it didn't say anything about prerequisites. I'm still finishing up 2 but the email didn't include needing to show them my prerequisites in progress

did you add the pre reqs that were in progress to your nursing cas?

I had added my in progress pre reqs (pharm and patho) and attached a letter from the school for proof.

ohhhh okay okay, I didn't give them any docs just my college transcript, I just emailed them screenshot of my reciept that lists the courses and a screenshot from canvas because I am doing it through a self paced program that the advisor recommended to me.

Yes, I added them as in progress

OMG freaking out now! I sent in my application on the day it opened and have heard zip from SM.

I wouldn't worry if I were you, I think it might take them a while to go through the applications. If you sent it in on time through nursing CAS and it says verified, then you're okay! I think they just have a lot of applications to look at!

I think you will be okay! as long as you met the deadline! the advisor told me it can take approximately 3 months to hear back about decisions but some people in last years cohort heard within the month

Hello All,

I was wondering what you all think about SM not having preceptorships and the impact that may have on getting a job after graduation?

I currently work at UCD Med Center and I know the ELMSN program does do a senior preceptorship. There was just a student on my unit that completed hers. I also know that a couple of cohorts ago for the ABSN the students put up a big enough fuss and they ended up getting to do one. So I am not 100% sure where SM actually stands with it.

OK thank you. I appreciate the information.  Does UCD have a new grad program? If so do you know how competitive it is?
