Samuel Merritt University ABSN Fall 2024

Hi everyone! I'm starting this discussion for those who applied for SMU ABSN program for the Fall 2024 cohort! I was curious if anyone has received updates/email yet. I personally applied to the Sacramento program. Good luck everyone! I

I wish I knew. I was hoping the person who started this thread knew, since they were accepted to a different Samuel Merritt program. I'm hoping it's a good sign.

I hope we find out soon, so we know if we should re-apply for the July 1 deadline.

I started the thread and Unfortunately I don't know the difference either. I've said in the past comments that the portal isn't as accurate as a letter. I was denied from the Oakland Summer ABSN and on the portal it still says "Congratulations your application is under review". As of right now, my application portal also says it for the Sac program. Even when you log into the portal it says the information given is not accurate.

I got denied from the ABSN Summer start in Oakland and still got access. I don't think it matters tbh it's just luck on whether it lets you sign up. The only thing I can say is the portal doesn't show when you get denied, it just shows the results of when you are under review, accepted or waitlisted. At least in my experience, I received the denial letter but on the portal it says still under review. But the portal also states that it's not accurate.

Hello, how soon after the app deadline did you receive your denial letter?

I looked back at the 2023 thread those decisions went out June 8th and for the next couple weeks after. 
I was wondering if anyone noticed if they extended the deadline for applications or kept it as 4/1?

Hi everyone,

I'm in the ABSN program (Sac campus, Jan 2024 start date) and I was just browsing here to see if the Aug 2024 cohort got acceptance letters. Sounds like not yet, so I just want to say that for us, the application was due July 1 and we got acceptance letters around Sept 8, so about 2 months and 1 week after the deadline. If it's the same for you guys, you should be hearing back in a few weeks! There's a lot to complete before you can start school, so they give you time to do it all. Also, I know they got at least 15 deep into the waitlist, so don't be discouraged with a waitlist placement, especially if you're near the top. Happy to answer any questions while you wait to hear back.

Thanks for stopping in and helping us with some clarity.  Can you tell us about how school has been so far?  Schedule? Rigor? School support? Everyone who you started with are still there (dropout rate)? 

My main concern is the lack of opportunity to precept. What's your group's thought on it so far?  Have you spoken with the previous class about their experience with hiring and not having an opportunity to precept?

Anything else you think of that is helpful.
