Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2021 term at SMU. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Feel free to drop your stats and scores!

Hi Arianna,

Have you looked into Skyline Community College? I'm not sure if there are still open spots for Micro, but a friend I know is taking it over the Summer there.

I also know you are super worried, but I really think you will be okay if you end up taking Micro in the Fall. That is my situation right now too! Of course, we will be at a disadvantage, but it's definitely not impossible. I'm hoping that my other good grades can show them that I am capable of getting A's for the courses in progress. They also have our essays and experience to take into account as well!

Hi,

I actually attend Skyline and they have Micro wait lists open, however the Dean called me today and advised me to be patient. He said if I'm not close to the beginning of the wait list, then I probably have no chances. I'm not sure where to check my number in line and he was rushing me off the phone and interrupting me, so I need to figure out where to look for my wait list number.

I found the course at Berkeley extension, which is about $2,100. The lecture part can be completed by Summer, but the lab part is completed by December. So might as well just take it in the Fall at a community college. The only advantage would be to at least show SMU that the Micro lecture was completed with an acceptable grade, but I don't think I want to spend $1,000 just to show them that.

Is anyone able to volunteer right now, besides in a hospital setting? If so, where and how? I need more volunteer hours.

Hi everyone,

I am glad to have found this post.

4.0 Science GPA

3.8 Prerequisite GPA

No volunteer hours, but I work full time in healthcare as a Project Engineer for Sutter Health. I do have experience caring for a terminally-ill cancer patient. I am wondering if they'll take this into consideration.

No HESI

My last prerequisite courses are Critical Thinking (enrolled for Summer) & Statistics - I am on the waiting list right now for Summer Semester (started today). Worst case scenario is I'd have to take it Fall Semester.

After you all submitted your application, how soon did they notify you of your eligibility for admission/verify you?

Hi Caitlin,

Awesome stats! I submitted my application on May 16, but my second letter of recommendation was only submitted last Friday. I got a notification today that my application was verified so they are pretty quick once all the materials are submitted!

Good luck!

My experience was the same. Once all forms were submitted, the verification was extremely fast. You should not have a hard time so as long as you don’t wait til the last second. Good luck!

Thanks, @OliviaNorman & @RatchetRed! That's awesome to hear. Good luck to you!

Does anyone have experience with Advanced Placement Credit?

Was on a few of the BSN Chatrooms, but couldn't get a definitive answer. Basically, I took some AP Exams in high school which, thus, gave me college credit for various courses (e.g, English Lit/Composition AP Exam gave me credit for the English 1A class).

Are these scores reflected on your Official college transcript? Is there a letter grade associated with each AP score? I'd appreciate any help if anyone has a similar experience.

Hi everyone!

Im looking at my application and it says verified in green, evaluations completed in green, but the transcript section is listed as “Arrived” in red. Is this similar to what anyone else is seeing? Wondering if the red means something since the others are green?

Same! I was also wondering the same thing. But I think it’s how it’s supposed to be
