Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2021 term at SMU. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Feel free to drop your stats and scores!

Hey guys!

I know this thread has probably come to its end, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I got off the waitlist!! I was originally #5, got updated to #1 on Nov. 20, and I just heard back this morning! I am so grateful and have been nervous ever since we originally heard back. It doesn't feel real ?! Excited to meet you all! ? I am still rooting for everyone else that is reapplying or is on the WL too!

Congrats!! I think we are all super nervous and excited at the same time. I can’t wait to meet all of you!

I neither declined nor accepted my offer, and I received an email today that my spot will be forfeited if I don't pay the deposit by the end of the day today. I have ultimately decided to not attend Samuel Merritt, so my spot will be available tomorrow, as will anyone else's spot who also didn't decline or accept. So hopefully tomorrow there will be multiple people who get off of the waitlist.

I'm so hopeful that I'll get some good news before the holidays. On 11/20 I received an update that I had moved to #6 on the waitlist.

Hi Clementine, may I ask why you decided not to attend SMU? Did you get accepted in multiple schools?

Yes, I got into a state school as well and I ultimately decided that I could not justify the extra 85k to attend SMU over a CSU. Definitely a lot of soul searching. I'm sad that I won't be meeting all of you lovely people at Samuel Merritt, but maybe our paths will cross in our future nursing careers ?

I just got my acceptance letter today for SMU Spring 2021!!

Congratulations! May I ask if you got the official email with the directions to accept the offer and make a payment? I know I got off the waitlist, but I’m still not sure how to accept the offer :(.

Hi, I was unfortunately not admitted but I was talking to some who were or were on the waitlist and some of my stats were higher. If you were admitted with a GPA of 3.5 or lower, what were your other stats? Did you feel good about your personal statement answers? Applying for fall, thank you!

Hi, if you guyed took the HESI through examity, were you able to use the calculator through the entire math section? Or only some questions?

Hi, just curious! Why SMU? Also, what have you guys heard about the program? Thank you!

Spoken from someone who is actually in the cohort now, I don’t regret a single decision I made. I have an extremely great cohort of people who are extremely supportive and intelligent. SMU, while being expensive, is a great decision because they prepare you extremely well for the real world of nursing and aim their curriculum to passing the NCLEX. The professors are very supportive and understanding as well as the rest of the faculty. There are so many resources available to you like job opportunities, internships, organizations, volunteer, etc. It’s also one of the shorter programs (2 years, 4 semesters) and that’s important because you get to work faster than others. I know others will probably come on and say more, but that’s what I have. Also, I’m a veteran, so they have great resources for that group as well.
