Samuel Merritt Fall 2023 BSN Program

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello all! I have been anxiously searching forums for the past 2 months. I have been reading over previous applicants and their experience during the waiting period. I thought I might start a thread for those of us who have applied for the fall of 2023 cohort. Looking forward to the next few weeks of waiting with those who have applied!

I accepted but I haven't gotten any more information on what to do next. Has anyone else submitted their letter of intent?

I submitted mine, but it says on the portal that deposits aren't updated until the next day. So hopefully tomorrow we'll know more.

Did you check your checklist today?

Yes I did!

I'm feeling a bit ambivalent about going to SM given that they are extending all of their deadlines. I also noticed that they updated their admission policy to not require the TEAS or the HESI. This coupled with their tuition increase and lack of preceptorship makes me concerned that BRN is going to re-evaluate the program and place it on probation or revoke their accreditation status. Anyone else have thoughts about this?

I've been feeling the same, I got into USF and SM and I'm seriously considering going to USF instead even though the program is a year longer. I'm super bummed that they got rid of preceptorship

USF also doesn't require TEAS or HESI

I still see on their website SM requires TEAS or HESI still. Where does it say they got rid of preceptorship?

I joined the info session the other day and she said they do not do preceptorships anymore

Yeah I'm not sure about the TEAS HESI thing, in the info session she said they still require it

If you search these forums for Sam merritt you can see many disgruntled students that are complaining about them doing away with preceptorship and instead adding simulations and the option to pay more for certificates. Tuition is going up for less services. See screenshot for info about TEAS

What she said in the info session was that they call it like advanced nursing soemthing I forget the name and instead of being one on one with a preceptor it's a group with one nurse
