Samuel Merritt ELMSN, FNP program, Fall 2016 Oakland

Published

Hello,

I didn't see a thread for the Fall 2016 ELMSN, FNP program. I recently applied to Samuel Merritt's ELMSN, FNP program in Oakland, CA. Has any one else applied? Any graduates have any feedback? I'm really excited about Samuel Merritt's Family Nurse Practitioner program. I'd really like to pursue primary and mental health. With that, I think a focus on FNP first would help.

Haven't heard anything back either ..... For the last two years, they had invited some people for interviews by end of January so hopefully we won't have to wait until mid-Febraruy.

I'm waiting to hear back as well. My experience was a little odd because I got a denial letter from them for the FNP program in Sacramento on 12/1 then (literally) 5 minutes later, an acknowledgement of receipt of my app for Oakland. I'm guessing it's the same admissions committee so once they finished one round, they went to the next. Did this happen to anyone else? Fingers crossed I'll be invited to an interview soon.

I also haven't received any notification from them either. As soon as someone receives correspondence from them, please let us know! The waiting is excruciating!!!

Hey! I think Samuel Merritt only looks at the last 60 units GPA and the prereq GPA. For my last 60 units GPA it's around 3.45 and my prereq GPA is 4.0. I am hoping they look more than just GPA though (major, undergrad school, experience, TEAS score, etc). On the TEAS test, I got an 89.3 overall and 90 in Reading and 96 in Math. Hopefully this helps!

I just received a phone call to schedule an interview in Oakland. This is my first time posting on this website, but I am beyond excited. Has anyone else received a call yet and have you started to prepare for the interview?

@KO_1219 did you hear back yet buddy?

Have you heard back yet NanceN? I just heard back today and have an interview!

Congrats @LoveFNP on getting a call for an interview and thank you for letting us know! I will be standing by the phone for the next few days in hopes to receive the good news as well! A few questions... Did you apply for the CM program too? When is your interview? And did they say that you will also be receiving some type of letter/e-mail for interview instructions, etc?

Thanks @KO_1219 now I just have do good in the interview. I only applied for the Oakland Fall ELMSN, as this this the program that I truly want to do. I was told that I would receive an email shortly with directions for the interview and other information. Make sure that your voicemail is activated that way if you don't get the call that they are able to leave a message.

Thanks for all the info! Congrats again on your interview. I hope I get a call today too! Are you geographically local to the school and do you mind sharing any stats/experiences you have since you landed an interview in a very competitive program?

Hey congrats @LoveFNP! I think you are the first to hear. I, myself have not heard anything yet, though, I did submit my application pretty last minute... My stats is not as competitive as your, mines pretty average. Bleh..

Hi everyone, I've been following this forum to see updates on this year's application process and was wondering if anyone else has heard back. Yesterday I got a missed call at 8PM and received a voicemail regarding scheduling an interview. I received another call today at around 3PM and am scheduled for 2/10 at 3PM. Is anyone else interviewing on that day? Hope everyone's application process has gone smoothly. I submitted my application in September so I know how excruciating the wait can be. Good luck all!
