Samuel Merritt ELMSN FNP Fall 2015

Published

I read through all pages of the Fall 2014 and 2013 versions of this thread, and found it very helpful and reassuring to see fellow applicants statistics. I couldn't find one for Fall 2015 and would like to start one. I'm hoping to pull some data together for Fall 2015 so that we know where we are and get a better idea of our chances of getting into the program.

We could also help each other out and create a 'bond' over the celebration of acceptance and the depression of rejection on this thread. It's about to be a worldwind of emotion over the next few months. Happy application process!!

This thread is to keep lively and healthy our obsessions, curiosities, and heightened but needless anxieties about our own wishes to become a competent FNP and our perceived expectations that others may be "better" at it. So, as is tradition plus few added items:

Hello,

I was planning to join your thread but I won't since I got accepted elsewhere at the University of Maryland School of Nursing - their CNL program for the non nurse.

I'm glad I did not have only Samuel Merritt U. to count on! As a wait listed candidate for the ELMSN FNP, Sacramento campus, my position went down from a #13 to an #8 in the last three weeks. But I am dropping SMU since UMSON is even better in my opinion :)

I am so happy, and blessed that I don't have to go through another round of applications.

The interviews and all the requirements can be nerve racking. I had an interview for the UMSON program as well so be prepared for an interview for Master level programs--- as an advise to those who don't know. And by the way I have never had any type of experience in Nursing and my Teas was not the best at 75.4 though all my prerequisite grades were As. I have received both a Bachelors and a Masters before, my recommendations were probably excellent from my professors here at the community college in Sacramento. And my essay possibly counted as well. Meaning that the overall package counts for admission into any institution, not just one factor.

In this light, good luck to everyone out there seeking to enter a nursing program.

My advise to you is if you have the means consider applying to different nursing programs just like I did.

And be prepared for the hard work to put into Nursing school.

Hi fffnpsp15,

Thanks for your great advice! I've read your posts from previous thread. Good luck on your new journey in nursing school! ;)

Hi mikkoBB. I'm so happy you started this thread. I have been stalking all nurses for about a year now haha. I'll share my stats even though I think it makes the process more nerve racking and doesn't help considering there's so much more to your application...

Undergrad major: liberal studies

Last 60 units: 3.3

Science prerequisites: 3.1

TEAS V composite 82.9, reading: 89 math:84

My letters of rec are from my physiology professor, my charge nurse and the director of staff development at my job.

Hello Everyone~

Has anyone heard anything or talked to anyone at Samuel Merritt?

Wishing all of us the best! :)

Has anyone received the second email yet with a status update? I received the first about confirmation of my application but they said in 3-5 weeks we would get a status update and its been about that long...

Hi everyone! I'm still waiting on some type of update as well, I'm hoping this week will be it since it marks week 5! Wishing everyone the best!

Has anyone received any updates? I'm still waiting...

still nothing yet...

I just called the office today and I was told we will most likely hear back after the winter break. She mentioned most likely in January.

I wonder where everyone is that has applied!? I'm sure it's not just the few of us. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the update coycoy22! :)
