Hi, everyone! Just wanted to start a forum for those applying to SMU's ELMSN Fall 2019 program. I know the admission deadline was about a month ago and I wanted to know if anyone has heard back yet! I applied for the FNP track ?

I applied for Case Management at Oakland. The interview dates were for 2/20 and 2/25. I applied back in November.

Got it! Thanks.

This will be my 3rd time applying -- I was wait listed for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019, so hopefully, 3rd time's the charm! We should be hearing back soon tho. Oakland campus usually calls for interviews, but I've also gotten emails before as well.

Can you give us tips? Or tell us how the interviews were? Hopefully people that haven’t hear anything yet hear back sooner than soon! Im so anxious! Positive vibes because we are getting in! ???

Hi all! Just wanted to give you guys an update. I’ve been watching this thread like a hawk, and I know I would have appreciated this on the other end. I applied for the FNP, and I got an email interview yesterday! They offered only 2 dates to me and it was for 2/21-2/22.

Sending everyone positive vibes!!! ?

Hi all! For those of you who have gone through the interview process before, do you have any tips on how to prepare for the interview and written portion ?

I just got my interview invitation via email today!

It will be a group interview and group sizes depend on how many people choose the date/time of your interview. My previous interview groups varied -- first one had about 10-12 people, second time had like 6-7. Nothing that you really need to prepare, but I always think it's helpful to review your own application and about the SMU program itself. The interview is quite simple and seems that the interviewers just want to know about your thought process and how well you work with others.

Towards the end of the interview, they have current students come in and talk about their experiences. There is also time for a Q&A, so bring questions that you'd like answered by the students.

To be honest, it was hard for me to gauge what the interviewers wanted to see from me since it was difficult to stand out in a group interview setting. Everyone I interviewed with seemed qualified, extroverted, professional, and gave great answers to our questions. The questions asked were fairly simple, giving little room for bad responses but also making it difficult to really stick out.

Overall, it's best if you just be yourself and answer the questions truthfully. They never really ask you a direct question, since you'll be answering them within a pair or a group. Don't be shy, get to know your potential classmates, and have fun! ?

Hi everyone! I'm a current ELMSN-CM student who just started in Jan 2019. The interview process for CMs was one on one, and for me it was very conversational and I immediately felt comfortable after a few introductory questions. She did go over my grades going back to my first year of undergrad, along with going over my HESI scores, so I do believe those play a factor in the deciding process. I definitely suggest being yourselves because a good conversation can go a long way! Good luck with your applications and interviews, and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi everyone,

I received an interview invitation for the FNP track as well. Yay! So excited and nervous! I was also given the option to choose a time slot from Feb 21st or 22nd.

I hope the rest of you also hear about your interviews soon if you haven't already! I will update if I hear anything else. SO thankful for all the information regarding interviews above! ?

Hi everyone! thanks for sharing all your updates and helpful info. Does anyone know what a typical week for an ELMSN-CM student would be like? I'm assuming lecture from Mon-Fri and 12 hour shifts during clinical rotations. I'm also seeing that there's an online option for the FNP track. Is there one for CM too?

Hey I believe there is a masters program for FNP online but not an Entry level masters program online. So i am assuming it’s the same for CM. Hope that helps?

I was invited to interview for FNP too! But I was offered 3 dates with multiple time slots. Did yours say it was going to be a group interview or interview with the program chair and select faculty members?

Did you apply to the ELMSN-FNP or the MSN-FNP?
