Samuel Merritt ELMSN Fall 2009 Interviews!

Published

Hello!

I just received a call to set up an interview for Samuel Merritt's ELMSN-FNP program in Oakland (Fall 2009 cohort)!! I'm super excited!!!!

They want me to come in on February 9th already...so soon! I have been trying to keep up with the posts on this site, but haven't found anything else about Samuel Merritt for this year. Are there any other applicants out there? Has anyone else received an interview?

I checked my mail -- still nothing! I spoke to someone on the phone who received a waitlist letter today for FNP though. I keep thinking about calling, but I figure it's too late on a Friday now anyway...

But for those who need to reach admissions, Karena's number and email is on the staff listing: http://smc.samuelmerritt.edu/dir1.cfm :typing

It finally came in the mail!!!! I got waitlisted! Hope your wait will end soon too!!!

After much anticipation....I've been waitlisted (#23). Haha...at least I know now. Looks like I'm doing the CNL program at USF. Go Dons!

Future FNP,

I just got my rejection letter from USF for the CNL-non-nurse program. I was accepted for Spring but passed on their offer because I just needed some time off. And now, they've rejected me for Summer. I was in tears! Can I ask, what are your stats? G.P.A., GRE, TEAs?

To everyone that has already been accepted into Sam Merritt ELMSN-FNP track:

I'm planning to apply to Sam Merritt for the ELMSN-FNP track. What are your stats? And does anyone know if they are still accepting applications?????? I know Jan. 15th was the priority deadline.. but are they still accepting? Hard to get into?

Does anyone know how many spots the ELMSN-FNP has? What about the accerlerated BSN?

Thanks many!!

Hi blustar. I was waitlisted for Samuel Merritt's ELMSN-FNP program. My pre-req GPA is 3.8, overall 3.7, and I was in the 99 percentile for the NET test. I've volunteered at a hospital for 2 years and worked at a doctor's office and clinic for a couple years also. We have already had our interviews, but you can definitely try calling the admissions office. I believe this year about 200 applications were turned in and they accept 24. 28 of us were waitlisted. However, I know the deadline for ABSN was March 1st. Maybe try applying for that?? Its just a 1 year program. They have programs running throughout the year in different locations. Good luck!!

Hi blustar,

My stats are similar to remy's (GPA's ~3.7, 98th percentile on the NET, B.S. in MEB from UC Berkeley), but I have less hospital experience (Volunteered ~200 hrs at 2 hospitals + years of biotech lab work). I think we both had pretty good stats. I must admit, my interview was weak. But, everything else was pretty competitive. I'd like to know the stats of the people who did get admitted. Are there any reading this??

One question blustar, did you ask for a deferment from USF or did you just reject their offer letter?

Nice talking to everyone!

I did ask for a deferment.. but they changed the method. You now have to reapply if you do not accept their offer. Wow, you guys had great stats and got waitlisted? That's crazy. It sounds like it's hard to get into the ELMSN program. Yes, i would still like to know the stats of the people that were accepted!!

Thanks again!

I still haven't heard anything, so at this point I'm expecting a rejection letter. :trc:

Blustar, if you're really interested in Samuel Merritt, the ELMSN program is very competitive, however... the CM track is slightly less competitive than FNP simply because the FNP track draws more applicants, and the Sacramento campus is FAR less competitive overall than Oakland, but if you're considering the Sac ELMSN, be prepared to move -- current ELMSN students attest that the program is so intense that people facing long commutes usually end up dropping out.

Good luck! :hngon:

i got waitlisted for ELMSN-FNP too...i wonder if anyone out there actually got an acceptance!

at least you heard...i STILL have heard nothing :banghead: and cannot seem to get ahold of Karena.... I am not expecting anything but a rejection at this point.... Has anyone had any luck getting in touch with anyone in admissions??

Yes, to those who have received acceptance letters, please let us know you exist and to which program you have been admitted!!

:plsebeg:

Have any of you received information about your FAFSA for Samuel Merritt? Although I haven't been accepted yet, I'm wondering how much financial support I can get...I got my FAFSA for SFSU and was able to get the whole year paid for through financial aid.
