Samuel Merritt ELMSN case management fall 2017

Published

I applied for the ELMSN case management program at SMU for fall 2017 and am wondering who else applied?? :) Lets support each other!

Hi Laura nice to meet you. My overall gpa is not the greatest but at least the school looks at the last 60 units. You definetly have a lot of experience. The only issue I had with nursing cas his how they show the overall gpa instead of the last 60. I contacted the school to clarify which score they would be looking at. But yeah they extended the deadline to March 1st. Hopefully those of us that applied by Dec. 1st will hear back earlier or something.

Yes as in the deadline was changed from dec 1st to march 1st. I wonder if they didn't get enough applicants? Well, its almost january guys!! So excited to hear soon hopefully! I am still unsure if I am going to apply to SF States program, I would have to take the GRE and I keep going back and forth about it being worth my time or not. Do you guys have any advice on that? The deadline is Feb 1st so I do need to get on the ball if I am going to apply.

Hopefully will hear back in January.....so excited. I didn't take the GRE so I'm not sure what it's like. If my sciences were not expired for other schools I would have definitely applied to more schools. I think you should go for it if you can. Why not right?

Ya thats what I keep thinking too! The website for SMU says interviews are held mid jan, so we must find out soon about that? I wonder how it works for the students who applied late after the deadline was extended? I wonder if we will still hear on time or if the whole process will be extended? Maybe I should email someone about it.

I hope we hear on time I hate waiting lol. We could ask the counselor but maybe we could see what happens in January.

Yeah, I'm anxious to see how they handle interview invites. I'm wondering why they would extend the deadline so much?

I think it must be because they didn't have enough applicants. Which is pretty crazy because nursing school in the bay area is so impacted. I think people are turned off by the extra requirements SMU has (Dev psych, Interpersonal communication, etc).

I am looking at last year for the fall and it seems like interview invites started in Feb!

I Know! That is insane to me, too. I'm thinking also maybe the cost? I looked at last year's profile and it said 87 applied with fifty something accepted. I'm wondering if maybe they don't have enough qualified applicants as well this year.

I was going to apply to sf state as well, but don't have the prerequisites done. It was crazy to me that they require them to be done pretty much a year before you begin their program. Crazy. Their acceptance rate is crazy low, too. I'm going to take the TEAS exam for their bsn program, though, but now I'm kind of wishing I could get a refund for the exam since I'd rather do a msn program over bsn.

That's really good right 87 applied last year and 57 got in. I was thinking the cost too it is expensive. I've been looking at the loan forgiveness programs and scholarships. FYI here is a website for scholarships Scholly – Scholarship Search Tool and College Scholarship Finder App. I'm hoping I can get scholarships or and grants to help with the cost.

I applied to the canada/sfsu program years back I ended up on the waiting list.

I hope that is a good thing for the qualified applicants. I want to get accepted so bad! I hope we hear soon about interviews!!!! I am on the waitlist at USF's MSN program that starts this month and I am loosing hope because there is only 1 more week to get off the waitlist before I reapply for the summer cycle. Anyone anxious about the interviews for SMU?
