Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

I didn't see a thread for the Samuel Merritt ABSN summer 2020 cohort and just wanted to start one, as I know most of us are in the process of applying right now. I applied to the Sacramento campus, but am currently waitlisted. I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on how to be more competitive aside from GPA (as I am going to retake some courses to up my GPAs). I love that Samuel Merritt looks at applicants holistically. Please share the wisdom , whether you are applying or you are already in the program. Thank you and have a blessed day !

So have you been accepted into the school? I don’t even have a SMU login info. I thought we heard things from email or on the NursingCAS website. My application still says “verified”.

No, it's confusing when it's called Admitted Students, but this is the Samuel Merritt's Portal website for their applicants: https://smuportal.force.com/Portal/TX_CommunitiesSelfReg

You can check your application status under the 'Checklist' tab. You sign up with the same email as the one you used for NursingCas. I learned about this through older forums.

I received my preliminary review email on Jan. 13th but when I checked the Admitted Students portal under checklist nothing is listed. Was that the case for anyone else?

I didn’t get an email about a preliminary review but on my portal it says that my application is under review. I’m assuming we will get another update in a couple days or weeks.

Omg I haven’t received any updates on the portal or any emails from Samuel Merritt except for confirmation at the beginning when I first submitted my application on 11/26/19. My status on my NursingCas is still just “verified”. Should I contact Samuel Merritt?

@Lovenursing11 did you get the prelim email from Samuel Merritt that says something like “we’ve received you application and it’s going under review, try not to contact us during this time as we have many applications to go through. If you need to contact us, email xxx.” If you did, that’s pretty much what everyone’s gotten ?

Hi guys! I also applied to this cohort (first time applying to SMU). I listed San Mateo April #1, San Mateo June #2 and Oakland #3. I also applied to the Fall 2020 FNP program. Anxiously awaiting a decision.. would be so great to get in and meet all of you! good luck everyone ?

PSA anyone planning to apply in 2021 to absn Sacramento. Professor Bowman has moved to this campus. Avoid at all costs. We will probably lose over 10 people from our class. Pick another campus unless you want to risk failing, losing time and money.

I was just looking through past posts...for the 2018 Summer Term the first person posted about their acceptance February 5th and for the 2019 Summer Term February 21st. It would be amazing if we hear back in the next few days!! It seems like the days are moving slower and slower. ?
