Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi All,

I didn't see a thread for the Samuel Merritt ABSN summer 2020 cohort and just wanted to start one, as I know most of us are in the process of applying right now. I applied to the Sacramento campus, but am currently waitlisted. I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on how to be more competitive aside from GPA (as I am going to retake some courses to up my GPAs). I love that Samuel Merritt looks at applicants holistically. Please share the wisdom , whether you are applying or you are already in the program. Thank you and have a blessed day !

Please message me too. Thank you so much in advance!

The loans do seem daunting. I saved a good chunk prior to the program. A few of my colleagues in the program were fortunate to ask for help from family as well to keep the loan cost down.
I don’t like to count my chickens before they hatch, but looking on the web at some salary statistics made me feel much better about ability to repay the loan. Do some looking around and hopefully you’ll start feeling more comfortable with the price.

Also, even despite everything changing a bit due to COVID, I feel as if the money I spend on this program is worth it.

Hi! Please, if you have a chance, I’d like to get some info also. TIA!

Hi everyone,

Did you guys just get the email from Samuel Merritt about their plans for the first semester? It sounds like it will mostly be online. Is anyone else a little worried about this? I hope that they reduce the tuition a bit to account for this. I’m also worried about the quality.... I hated taking Pharm and patho online and found it to be harder to retain the lessons. But maybe I’m overly worried about this?

Same here. I am a bit worried as well. I hate online classes, but I'm hoping to utilize all the resources to make sure my first semester is successful. I was also hoping to connect with classmates to form study groups, but I guess we have to get creative for now LOL

I feel the same way. I heard the program is intense, and to have lectures online is a bit worrisome. Does anyone know if the online classes will be on web ex?

Hi guys! I forgot to send you all messages. I’ll write something up and send it this afternoon!

Any Apple users out there? I'm going to get an iPad (a gift) & am not sure which one do people suggest is best? Regular iPad, Pro, or Air? And what GB / screen size (if applicable)?

Thanks.

Hello! I’m coming from another thread for Fall 2020 ABSN.

I am unable to private message you in on here because I just signed up for an account. Can you message me with the information you were mentioning on this thread about financing your ABSN tuition? Thanks in advance!

Not in the May Oakland cohort, but I was accepted into the June SM cohort and received an email through my SMU email that our start date has been deferred until November. I would advise you to set up your SMU email and check your inbox!

Hey there! I'm in the same November San Mateo program and was wondering if you had any links you could share with me so I can get in touch with the other admitted students in our cohort. I can't seem to track any down on here or on facebook. Just trying to get in touch with our class! Thanks!
